Freestyle is close to the termini station, this is only good thing about this hostel but the rooms ware really bad. there was only 2 bathrooms for three 11-bed rooms. beds were squeaking and blankets were smelling like they have never been washed. we only stayed there as we had paid the money. even if u r looking for a "value for money" place, still avoid this. this hostel is terrible

Originally we booked Happy Days Hostel, but theysent us to this hostel as there was overbooking, or so they said. The place turned out to be a disaster. It has three 9 bedded rooms, and only two tiny bathrooms. The window in our room couldn't be closed. There is no reception, they use one of the dorms as their office. We asked them several times to give us a receipt for the payment, but they told us lies. They offered us free breakfast and dinner, breakfast was basic but good, but the dinner was the same for a whole week: pasta+tomato souce. We had to line up in order to get our dinner like in a concentration camp, and as there were no tables we had to eat standing up. We had to wait for hours to get into the bathrooms, which are right next to the kitchen, and you can imagine how they smell.
We stayed 6 days/5 nights here. On the 5th day at 6.30 in the morning the police woke us up, they told us that the hostel is closed, because it's workong illegally, and we had to leave. The owner Kumar from Punjab, has no documents for the hostels, he runs them illegally, that's why they refused to give us receipt. So at 7 in the mornong we had to leave, the hostel was closed by the police. DON'T GO TO HOSTELS IN ROME, they are all fakes, and illegal

Freestyle" was close to the termini station so the location is quite good, but the room we got there was really bad. The window was broken, it was cold outside and very cold in the room. There were no electricity sockets inside the room and no heating equipment. Our group of 10 people were split among the rooms.

The rooms were very crowded by beds, ours had 11 beds very close one to another and you couldn't even put your luggage anywhere. There were no locks on the doors, and no security at all. The rooms were also locked betweend 11 and 3pm to clean, but there was actualy no cleaning at all, they just moved you luggage in the room.

We had our sleeping bags with us and it turned to be the best thing we could have brought in our trip, because in the room was really cold fo use the blankes they gave you.

There was a small hallway, room with some chairs and a computer connected to the internet that you could use (only till 22:30). After 23:00 there was an anoying guy that won't let you socialize, drink or talk in that hallway with others because "it's late and people are sleeping" although the doors to the rooms were closed. But there was also a nice lady that helped us a lot with informations and stuff.

There are 2 bathrooms for more than 30 people(when the hostel is full) and it's really incredible how long you could wait to get your turn. One of the bathrooms was inside a room and you had to croos the whole room to get to it, and the toiled there was not even working.

Overall I would not recommand staying unless you're really poor and you cannot afford more than 10E/night in a better place. The only good thing about it was the ability to meed new people, complaing about the bad conidition togheter with them and the location wich is good to go to the center/airport/other sights.

If i had to sum this experience up in one word it would be NASTY!
This place was gross, i have to admit i am picky with cleanliness, but this place was bad. The room was packed full with 12 beds that were falling apart. The mattresses were old and smelt so bad I could barely manage to sleep on them. I had problems sleeping because I was sure the sheets hadn't been cleaned in days (if not longer) and i didn't want to fall out of the sleeping sheet i had brought along.

The reviews on hostel world said that they owners were 'cool' and 'spoke fluent english' but they could barely speak english and offer us any advice on the city. the hostel says they have 'free breakfast and dinner' but they charge you 1.5 euros and act like they don't know what you are talking about. the breakfast was cold pack bread and watered down juice and the dinner was noodles and cheese, barely enough to fill you up.

the bathroom was unliveable. i couldnt even manage to brush my teeth without gagging at the smell, and i choice to use the bathrooms frequently at restaurants we ate at instead of having to go at freestyle. the shower was so covered with mold i choose not to shower for three days.

The location was decent (5 minutes from the train station) but if i didn't have my boyfriend with me i wouldnt feel safe walking in that neighborhood, it was really a place you didnt want to be at night.

To sum this up, DONT STAY HERE! There are so many other places in rome for decent prices, this place needs to be shut down by the ministry of heath or even the police in rome.

I recently visited Rome and had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Freestyle Hostel. Unless you are EXTREMELY strapped for cash, do not stay at this dump! The only reason we managed to stick it out was because we had already paid, and had met a nice Australian couple who was staying there.

The place is falling apart (paint peeling from the walls, bits of wall falling off). The bathroom was so revolting that I didn't shower for the 3 days I was in Rome. The shower was growing mold and the sink was covered in some kind of green and black gunk. The water had a bad odor and it was extremely cramped. Although it advertised a "free meal" we still had to pay if we wanted to eat there.
