We were quite pleased overall with out experience at Hotel Stendahl. We only took off a point because we did spend a few hours in the lobby waiting for our toilet to be repaired, which was a bit of an inconvenience. In hindsite, we should have notified the front desk after we had finished with our morning routine, rather than before. Otherwise, we had no complaints, and we would definitely recommend this hotel for the convenient location (close to Spanish Steps, Metro, Trevi Fountain), spotless rooms, and friendly staff. We took advantage of the 40% off promotion for the month of August - not a bad deal at all! We would definitely stay again when we return to Rome.

We enjoyed Shendhal Hotel. The staff was very helpful as they helped get us dinner reservations on multiple occasions. Room was small but was fine for our needs. Internet was free in the lobby - great for checking email during breakfast. Would definitely return.

This hotel is amazing in it's location-yards from the Metro and restaurants, shops, pharmacy, yet quiet, although it's on a busy street. You can walk to Trevi fountain and churches and take the Metro to any place else. It is beautifully decorated, but a small and friendly hotel. The breakfast is great and included in the room fee. It is air conditiioned and the bathroom is a good size. The front desk staff are friendly, but not as helpful as I would have liked. There really is no concierge service-you have to arrange all your own tours,etc. They will recommend restaurants, although their choice was not great...but there are several little cafes in the area with great food and wine. But overall it a great hotel and we would stay there again.

Hotels in Rome are overpriced and I never feel like we're getting great value. I've been there three times, and this is the best we've done yet. Location is extremely convenient to walk to sites; everything is within 15 minutes. Air conditioning works. Buffet breakfast is excellent. Service was efficient, and the rooms are quiet. Bathrooms are also sizable and modern, which matters a lot to us.

The only negative I'd say is that the mattresses and pillows are not great. They're fine, just not as nice as other things in the hotel.

It's hard to find a perfect hotel in Rome, so don't even try. But if you can get a decent price at Stendhal, you'll certainly be satisfied.
