We have just returned from our trip to Rome, I didn't know what to expect after reading the reviews but just wanted to put mine in.
We stayed in a standard room at B&B rate, our rooms were lovely, bathroom superb and the location what can I say, very central for all the sites other than the Vatican and St Peters.
The breakfast had everything you would need even for the fussiest person with lots to chose from, the hotel staff were very friendly and were very helpful.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Rome as it was lovely!!!

If you can, book Room 607 at this hotel. Walk straight through the modern elegance of this penthouse suite, fling open the French doors of your private 200 square foot rooftop terrace, and say hello to Rome! It might help if you have a bottle of something on hand, especially if you are with someone you (a) wish to impress, or (b) wish to become romantic with. Hell, even if you’ve already been romantic with that person, you will marvel at the classic and spacious (marble, of course) bath in your suite, give a nod to your own personal espresso machine, smile at the sitting area, relax when you see the two air conditioning thermostats, and laugh to yourself when you realize you’re getting it all for under 200 Euros per night, a real bargain considering this elegant hotel sits in the center of all the action. The Coliseum is 15 minutes in one direction and the Trevi Fountain is 15 minutes in the other, and all about you are the pleasures and surprises of this ancient city. This hotel defines elegance in the center of Rome and is not to be missed. The furnishings are more modern than romantic and they could use a chair or two for the terrace, but I loved this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The full breakfast, included in the rate, was delicious with an array of American and Italian dishes served buffet style in the restaurant each morning.

The key factor here is that I paid less than € 150 B&B for something acceptable in the middle of a Western European capital. There follow a few gripes but I would be surprised to find a similar level of quality in, say, London for twice the price.

Good points first - location is fine; pretty central and in an apparently safe area. I didn't eat in the restaurant but I'm told breakfast was good. the room was clean and recently decorated and as I was at the back of the hotel there was no noise from the street.

Clean as it was, the room was tiny - the distance for wall to wall seemed less than floor to ceiling. Furthermore there is no desk so I had to work sitting on the bed with the notebook balanced on my knees. The bathroom is also small.

I was there for only one night and spent very little time in the room. If you have a heavy schedule and expect to be out a lot this place is great value for money. If you intend to spend a lot of time relaxing or working in the room though you'll soon start to feel very cramped. Most of the rest of our party of ten said they had small rooms too.

Regards
Paul

Pros:
* Cleanliness
* Location
* Breakfast buffet

Cons:
* Way too expensive, given the quality of the hotel
* Very dark rooms with heavy curtains that you can't move aside
* No free wireless, and it's difficult to purchase time on their network
* No iron is made available to guests - instead you need to hire them to iron your clothes for a hefty fee
* No fitness facilities

I was sent here by the Hotel Opera Roma, where I had a reservation because they said they were overbooked. I really did not appreciate this bait-and switch.

We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and got a great rate (about $160 per night). The location was excellent (within walking distance of the ancient Rome) but the room and service were below average. The hotel staff treated us like we were burdening them with your presence. Our room was stuffy with A/C that barely worked. When I noted this problem with the hotel staff, they looked into it but didn't resolve the problem. The notice on the door indicated that the rack rate for the room was 540 Euro--definitely NOT that cost! If you can't get a great bargain like we did ($160 per night) then look elsewhere. Also, if you want breakfast included with your room you have to pay extra (which is VERY odd in Italy where most hotels include breakfast). Don't bother eating breakfast at the hotel, there are several places to get a typical Italian breakfast down the street for a quarter of the cost.
