Hello travellers,
I have just returned from The Internation Palace, Rome. This wasnt a hotel I researched very well, rather I went with travel agent recommendation.
For me, this hotel would be an average hotel in a good location. The rooms are unfortunately decorated in a very outdated fashion which gave it the appearance of being old and shabby even though it clearly was recently done. I found the rooms to be of a good size but with a small window making it very dark. I also found out the in this hotel (maybe others) they do not switch the AC on until may. Using the wall thermostat I could tell the it was somewhere between 25-30 degrees celcius.. Not acceptable temperature for sleeping. The next morning I asked for it to be switched on and I was given a story which a staff member later confirmed as a lie where I was told that guests have complained that the AC was too cold.. In reality they just dont turn it on to keep cost down. I was told to open a window to keep cool, however being on a very busy street it was too noisy with 27/7 traffic and sirens etc. I was moved to a quieter room which was just as nosiy but after being persistent with complaining they switched the AC on.. kind of !!
We had breakfast every morning and 2 out of the 3 mornings the Maître de was very poor, not making eye contact, not chat and just pointed you to a dirt table. She spent most of the time standing around while the rest of the staff were falt out and couldnt keep up. As a result of what I would say being understaffed there was serious issues with teh breakfast. We had trouble getting plates and quiet often had broken plates offered, we couldnt get cutlery in general it was just a chaotic scene.
No for the positives, the location of this hotel is excellent. 2-3 minutes walk to the main train station, I would say 10 minutes to the Coliseum, 30 mins to the vatican and easily with minutes of all the sites and shopping areas.
Would I stay again? probably not ! Would I recommend it ? Maybe but its only ok as a hotel..
Happy travels.

Just got back from Rome yesterday. So sad to leave Rome behind and back to reality! This hotel was in the perfect location. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a central location for a decent price. Room we stayed in was a standard double. It was small but average for European standards. The bathroom was updated but the shower was the size of a shoe box! If you were to be over weight, you would have problems fitting in! That was the only minus staying here.

You can walk everywhere! Just down the road from most of the main sites except the Vatican of course. A few reviews down gives great directions on how to reach important destinations-we printed this review out and it came in handy!

Nice but VERY expensive restaurant is attached. We did not go in after looking at the menu prices. There is a wonderful cafe right across the street-We went there twice..once for lunch and once for dinner.

Tip: If your room isn't ready upon arrival..there is a large restroom located on the first level in the back. This was a great place to change and wash my face so we could go out an explore until our room was ready.

The free internet access was very nice however there was usually a line but it was great to keep in touch with family and friends for free from our hotel.

The hotel arranged a ride for us to the airport on our last day. We took the train the first day, but found it to be a tad stressful. The cab was a Mercedes but the ride was a tad scary, very very very fast. It was 50 Euro. Scary but worth it.

Front desk staff all knew English-the maids did not understand us but that was the only language barrier we ran into.

Overall-great value for a good hotel!

Have just stayed at the Eurostars on our first visit to Rome. Hotel in very central, easy to reach and close to all sights. The staff were friendly, helpful and even gave us a detailed map on our arrival. The room we had (double) was large with a small balcony and the bathroom was of a fair size and was very, very clean. Our room was at the front of the hotel, obviously there is traffic noise but that was all part of the experience (it is a capital city after all). There is a Spar shop across and a little up the street which is inexpensive and enables you to stock up with water, reasonably priced wine, beer and other provisions you may need. The area is very safe and I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here 24-28 March, first time in Rome and thought the siteseeing superb.
Location of hotel is excellent, and most main sites within walking distance, you see more and some real hidden gems on foot.Bright ,mild weather overall obviously made walking more enjoyable.
Hotel is quite welcoming, communal areas were always clean and room was presented well and clean.
Room size was only average size and no view to speak of,but this is city centre so no real problem,i have to say the largedouble bed was one of the most comfortable encountered in a hotel.Breakfast offered very good choice

We stayed at the Eurostars International Palace hotel in Rome at the end of Feb 09 for 4 nights. We were very happy with the hotel. It is centrally located within 15 minutes walk of the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum and the Santa Maria Maggiore Church (well worth a visit for the shear opulance displayed there). Our room was a standard triple, quite a good size with comfortable beds, mini bar, nice bathroom. A word of caution, if you end up staying at the front of the hotel, we would imagine it would be noisy as there is a lot of traffic right outside the hotel (bring earplugs). Our room was at the back and was very quiet. We did not eat at the hotel as we thought they were expensive 16 euro for breakfast. However, there is a cafe straight across the road from the hotel where you can get food all day. There is a mini market, again across the road from hotel, which proved to be very useful for stocking up on water etc.

The Colosseum is easly accessed from the hotel. Turn left on exiting and take the second or the third street to the left and it is down at the end of that road.

Equally the Trevi fountain can be reached by turning left on exiting the hotel. Keep walking until you see a tunnel across the road. Use the tunnel to take a shortcut to the fountain. Turn left on exiting the tunnel and it is but a short walk from there. The tunnel is noisy with traffiic, but a handy shortcut.

The Santa Maria Maggiore Church is again nearby. Turn right on exiting the hotel. Take the first street to the right, by the Max Mara shop and keep walking on this street until you reach the church. Your reach the back of it first. Well worth a visit.

We used the Viator green hop on hop off bus service, which we found very useful. You can get a pass for 24 or 48 hours. A good idea on the first morning is to use this service, as it gives you a good idea of where everything is. Stay on the bus for the 2.5hrs round trip and use it afterwards to hop or or off at the various attractions. The nearest bus stop for this is across the road from the Termini which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel - turn right on exiting the hotel.

There are some nice restaurants near the hotel. Turn left as you leave the hotel and take the first left, There are three good restaurants on this street, which is very handy after a long day spent walking. They are Est Est Est, which serves pizzas and pastas, very reasonable and delicious. Beware that it may be full, but if you ask they will reserve a table for you later. Another restaurant on this street is New Mary Meeting which serves a wider variety of food including steaks etc. Again we found the food there to be tasty and the staff were lovely. There is also a chinese across the road from Est Est Est, which we also enjoyed. Another good restaurant we tried was nearby. Turn right on leaving the hotel and take first right. It is on the right hand side of the road, just past the rectangular fountain (cant remember the name of it).
There is also an Irish bar serving food on the Via Nazionelle, which we did not get a chance to try, but it did good business.

With regard to getting to the hotel from the airport, we used a service called Rome Shuttle Limousine Services, which we found to be excellent. Booked on the internet, we paid 40euro from airport to hotel and 35 euro from hotel to airport. Excellent service and well worth it. If you are more adventurous you can get the train or bus from the airport to the Termini (station) for 11 euro per person each way, but you then have to find your own way to the hotel (10 minute walk).

There are local busses running just outside the hotel, but we did not use them as they always were very full and can be an easy target for pickpockets.

The beauty of staying around the Via Nazionelle is that you are very central and can walk most places.

A tip for the Vatican - If you intend going there and not doing an organised tour, go around 12.30-1.00p.m. as it is a quiet time. Earlier in the day the queues are long.

Rome is a fantastic city and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope to return and would stay in the same hotel again.
