Just returned from the Cosmos Splenders of Italy Tour. Had read all the reviews and was a bit concerned. The only problem with this hotel is that it is on a noisey street and not too many restaurants that are open on the first night we arrived (Sunday). In fact within 2 -3 blocks only 1 small cafe was open on Sunday night.

Our room was very nice and clean, in fact we were lucky and got a room that even had a small sitting room with 2 love seats - hardwood floors all around which was something I have never seen in the states, but loved about the hotel. It was cool in the evenings so we left our windows open and we were fine except for the street noise but again not a big deal as I was very tired both nights.

Breakfast was no surpise as I knew what to expect from the Tour, if you do not like cold cuts and dinner rolls for breakfast then do not do a cosmos tour. That was breakfast everyday in each hotel.

Our 2nd night we also had no problem as we went to dinner on the optional excursion. As we arrived late the first day I really do not know how hard it is to get into central rome from this hotel but I still had no problems with this hotel.

We stayed here as part of the Cosmos Splendors of Italy Tour. I had read some reviews, but I always keep an open mind while traveling, and I suggest you do the same!

Hotel Fleming was clean, and the room was very SMALL. They also do not turn on the air conditioning in Italy until very late in the season, June or July. So, the room was very hot and we slept with the window opened, which allowed many outside noises in, including the grocery store deliverers across the street.

Traditional European hotel bathrooms are also very small, including the shower. The showers are SO small that I couldn't even bend to shave my legs! This hotel is also a little out of the way, but taking a taxi was very inexpensive and easy to get. I felt safe in the hotel, and they also provided a safe, which I suggest you use if you stay at any hotel. Also we had two twin beds here at Hotel Fleming, this is very traditional in Europe, and we found it really funny!

I just returned home from Rome and the last two days at the Grand Fleming. DO NOT ruin your Rome stay by booking a room in this dump. The neighborhood is sketchy, it is a 20 Euro ride to St. Peter's Square. There didn't appear to be anywhere to go at night locally. The room was tiny - appeared to be clean but old and smelled musty. The bathroom was a joke - shower so small you would have to step out to retrieve the dropped soap. Not for the claustrophobic.

The food was terrible, especially breakfast. We were herded downstairs like cattle to an unpleasant breakfast. Even the orange juice stunk as it was watered down. The coffee was worse than dishwater!

People at the front desk were rude -

Like I said - stay away. I felt lucky I didn't find a rodent in the room. Spend a few more dollars and go someplace decent.

We were a part of a partially guided tour with Cosmos in October and this was the hotel that they use for this particular tour. I, like others, had read many negative comments but I found that this hotel was just fine and that, although it was about a half hour bus ride to the city center, the #32 bus stop that takes you there was just a short walk from the hotel (bus tickets are sold at a tobacco shop just to the right of the hotel, across the street). Also, the residential/retail center around the hotel had it's own character and even a small market that opened on Monday morning right across the street. All you have to do to find restaurants, a gelateria or two, and a good pastry shop is walk around a little and that is not unreasonable. If you had a view of the main street outside the front side of the hotel, you can get a pretty hilarious view of the parking situation---amazing how many Smart Cars can fit into a particularly small space and how "creative" Italians are with parking! I saw no reason to complain of this hotel but then again, when I travel, I don't complain much anyway. In my opinion, If one has little flexibility when traveling, then one should stay home.

I was for the first time in Rome with my wife. Was a positive experience. A lot of places to see. We chose the Grand Hotel Fleming through the internet. Although away from the centre, there is good connections with the public buses. Very easy. Hotel is ok, rooms small but comfortable and clean. We had also a balcony. Bfast was continental and basic but good. Staff at the reception helpful. Recommended.
