We (husband, wife and one child) stayed at the Pinewood Hotel for 8 days. Was a bit apprehensive of the location so used the airport shuttle service for 45 Euros and was there in a little over 15 minutes. You can also take the train (x2) for about 12 Euros each but I would not recommend this option if you have a lot of luggage or traveling with small children.

First impression of the hotel was not good as the outside is not very desirable nor is the surrounding area. This however changes once you enter the lobby. Our room was clean and a good size with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and patio. It was also air conditioned which is a plus in Rome. The Continental breakfast was excellent and gave us a great daily start. The best part of this hotel was the staff. They were helpful, directed us to many local tourist free places and assisted with making rental car and EuroRail reservations as we do not speak Italian. Much to our surprise, many of them refused to accept our offered tips.

This hotel is outside the main tourists areas but the metro was a short walk away and we were only a few stops from everything we wanted to see. Our only suggestion for travelers is to ensure you have dinner where ever you are as once you return to the hotel, your options are fairly limited.

We were there in rome for 3 days...and we had reserved this hotel based in reviews in trip advisor..this was our first ever trip to Italy so were a bit apprehensive...we reached the hotel directly from the airport by a taxi.. and were charged around 50 euros..there was train option too which would had been much cheaper :)...as we were not sure of the place..opted for the taxi..it was around 11:00 Am by the time we reached ... receptionist there was very friendly and helpful gave us all the required information regarding the subways and places to see.as .the check in time was 12:00 noon so had to leave the luggage in the hotel(was safe)..would take 10 mins walk to the subway station...and Vatican city was the nearest place from hotel(2 stops) so we covered that area first...as soon as we returned the room was ready and we checked in...room was clean was much better than we expected...tidy bathroom as well..room service was also good..they changed towel etc every day.and coming to the break fast.they served continental breakfast the pictures must best describe them.....read few reviews saying ..was far away from central rome...but reaching central rome was never a problem..we took 3 day travel pass(11 Euros)..and could reach all the places within minutes!!.all and all a very good place to stay.

It was our second trip back to Rome and we could not have been more happy. The Pinewood is located around 25 minutes from the airport and is located on the west side of the city close to bus line. We were checked in by Rita, who despite us being quite early could not have been more kinder and welcoming. She made our stay very pleasant. The rooms are clean and cool and appreciated the included breakfast. We will be booking here on our next trip to Rome.

Im kicking myself as i can't remember the young guys name behind the desk as i feel he deserves a mentioned as he was very helpful along with the rest of the staff

It is a bit out of town, but with good travel connections into town

The hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are good. breakfast was a bit above average but nothing to write home amount.

For value and if you dont mind a bus journey would throughly recommend it
