I stayed at this hotel on a business trip, and thought it was very nice. It was clean, the staff friendly, and unlike the other two hotels I stayed at in Rome on this trip, they had a folder with the information which is frequently asked, rather than me actually having to ask. Each room even had a little balcony.
The location isn't the best if you are a tourist, but the price was very reasonable, and it's a 15 minute walk or short bus trip to the Cornelia Metro station which will take you downtown in almost no time, it's also as convenient to the Vatican as a hotel that's downtown.
The one thing I missed was that it didn't have a refrigerator or mini bar, and I like to keep cold water in the fridge when I travel. It also had apartment buildings on both sides, so it wasn't very private if you opened your curtains or were out on the balcony.
The area was also nice as it was across from a park that has a nice view of Vatican City.

  • Liked — the value
  • Disliked — closeness of other buildings to the hotel

5 adults stayed in the family room here. It was relatively cheap compared with other hotels in and around rome at £30 pppn. We were very pleasently surprised when we arrived as we had 3 seperate sleeping areas, and two bathrooms one with jacuzzi!. It was very clean and tidy and the concierge/bar was also nice. Free continental breakfast which was great, and set us up for the day. Alot of people were put off by the location, but it really isnt a problem for even the less savvy traveler. the 49 bus stop is RIGHT OUTSIDE hotel, and cornelia metro is a pleasant 5-10min walk. Very safe area day and night. EXCELLENT all round and would definately stay again, or recommend to others. Enjoy your stay! And Thank you Pinewood.

  • Liked — very high standard all round, was excellent.
  • Disliked — location, but it wasnt really a problem as the public transport was great!

We stayed in this hotel in late September, booked through Easytobook.com. This time of year is high season and I had to search long and hard to find a hotel of reasonable price (130 Euro/night) that wasn't miles out of the centre of Rome.

There is not a lot to find fault with this hotel other than the location. The nearest Metro station (Cornelia) is, at the very least, a 10 minute walk, along a not too scenic route. After a long day's sight-seeing it feels a lot further! However, the Metro route is handy to most sites in Rome.

We stayed in a 'Superior' class room (301). The room was of moderate size with a large bed and small tv with two English speaking channels (CNN and MTV). It's best feature though was the jacuzzi bath - a great way to relax at the end of a day.

The room was located next to the stairwell so could at times be a bit noisey but in the main was reasonably quiet.

The staff were pleasant and eager to help with directions to the sights. There was also a supermarket just 10 minutes away as we find see anywhere immediately obvious to go and eat dinner. Breakfast was a simple affair with croissants, rolls, cheese and yoghurt to choose from.

Overall, this hotel is a good 3 star establishment, however the location may put you off a little if you aren't used to a lot of walking.

  • Liked — The jacuzzi bath
  • Disliked — The distance from the Metro

Recently stayed at Pinewood in rome this past weekend...Really nice hotel! The staff was very helpful and very friendly. There is a small bar beside the lobby of the hotel which was a plus for all of you alcohololics lol. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. I had a huge bed to myself! Even though the rooms are small as well as the bathroom I still enjoyed my stay. The only downfall was that the internet connection was down in the rooms. You are about 5 minutes from the nearest Metro station. About 10-15 minutes from Vatican city. I recommend this hotel! Really enjoyed my stay!

I stayed at The Pinewood Hotel during the Easter break. Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Only downfall was location and shower!

To get to Central Rome its a 10 min walk or a bus ride (very frequent) to the metro then a 15-20 min ride on the metro. Found this journey to be quite tiring during my week in Rome, but for a 3 day stay it would be OK. The shower in the hotel was very small, standing room only and couldn't raise arms and legs!
