We just returned from our third stay with the Tassoni Group and once again, they were Fabulous! In 2002 we stayed out in the country at the, La Storta, location. It was beautiful, peaceful and well kept. The staff was courteous, and helpful.

In 2005 & now 2007, we decided to stay closer to the city at Residence Villa Tassoni. We LOVE this place! It is so conveniently located. Villa Tassoni is in a pretty calm area and quit safe but yet walking distance to the Vatican and all means of transportation. (Even with my bad leg, I had no troubles). Up the street is a Pizzeria where the locals hangout and down the block is a cool Irish Pub that is open after midnight. Directly across the street you will find the bus stop that takes you towards the city. It is a very short trip to the center. You can take this same bus to two (2) bus stops and you are walking distance (3 min.) to the Metro. Also, the moment you step out of the bus there is an Internet Café who also supplies international phone service. Down the street, you will find a super market. If you wish to travel outside of Rome with the F3 train, it is only two (2) blocks away, an 8-minute walk.

We love that the Villa is not in the city center where all the hustle & bustle of the chaotic noisy traffic & tourists are situated. (with the noise & congestion, Rome tourist spots can become frustrating). In addition, you do not have the high tourist prices as you do in the center.

Even though Villa Tassoni is a Residence and not a Hotel, they offer great services. First, the staff was extremely helpful & friendly. They offered city maps, bus numbers, directions, tourist tips & all with a smile. House cleaning is provided daily during the week. They offer fresh towels, fresh bedding, and a good cleaning of course. The apartment we had was spacious and bright, very cute. We had our own balcony and terrace. And for those hot days, fans are included.

We felt so comfortable at Villa Tassoni it felt like home. When we return to Rome, there is no question as to where we will stay. Residence Villa Tassoni is the spot for us! We highly recommend you visit.

This residence advertises itself as the equivalent of a four star hotel, but that couldn't be further from the truth. My apartment had none of the amenities promised/advertised on the website:

no air conditioning (a particular hardship considering the wretched 95 degree heatwave this summer);

no working phone line;

no working television (one channel of fuzzy "snow");

no extra set of keys (I was sharing one set of keys with another student whose schedule was opposite mine... what a mess! Not to mention that our single set of keys didn't open the main gate to the residence, so we had to beg people to let us in at night... And when we begged for a spare set, we were told to go to the nearest hardware store to make our own copies);

no laundry service (this was a special service purportedly organized by our university with Tassoni, but when we inquired about it, we were given puzzled looks and told to go to a laundrymat);

no working intercom to buzz in one's roommate or visitors (a particular problem when you have no working phone line either);

no fans (you have to go to the desk and beg for one, and the one we got was broken);

irregular staff hours (during office hours, the staff was rarely in the office and acted put upon when we asked for anything);

no facilities tour upon arrival (we were here a month and only on the LAST DAY learned that there was in fact a breakfast room somewhere on premises... nice to know after weeks of spending money on breakfast!!);

and an internet connection that was sporadic at best (which made it impossible to get any work done from the apartment).

The staff were unhelpful, the room was dirty, we rarely received fresh towels and linens, and we had to resort to purchasing our own toilet paper because the maids refused to leave us any!

The neighborhood in which the residence is situated has nothing to offer, and is a fifteen minute walk from the nearest subway station. It's not even in the city center proper, and is not located on any city center maps. It is not, in other words, "just minutes" from Vatican City-- more like a 20 minute hardcore hike.

My roommate and I were here a month, for which we paid the obscene equivalent of nearly 3000 USD for a crappy apartment masquerading as a four-star hotel. Keep in mind that we could have easily booked a room elsewhere for quarter of this price. I know, because I lived in Rome for several years and am quite familiar with housing and rental costs here. For years, for example, I rented a room in an apartment in the real city center of Rome for $350/month. So imagine my irritation at spending many times that for no amenities, no location, no service, and so on.

Had we known that the amenities advertised on the website were not in fact available here, we'd have booked elsewhere, but we didn't learn anything about the true lack of amenities until the night before we arrived in Rome, when it was too late to book another accommodation.

One important side note: if you're a young attractive female, beware of Villa Tassoni. One of the desk clerks kept asking me out and when I gave him a firm "no thank you", he was surly with me for the rest of my stay and wouldn't help me with anything.

Residence Villa Tassoni is not the worst place I've ever stayed in Rome, but it definitely does not live up to its "four star hotel" purported reputation.

I stayed at the Villa Tassoni for one month during a graduate school program. I did not encounter any problems during my stay, in fact, it was very pleasant. I stayed in a one bedroom suite which was clean, spacious and equipped with a kitchenette which was sufficient for cooking small meals. The bathroom was very nice with up-to-date fixtures and plenty of hot water. I had a very nice balcony which overlooked Via delle Medaglie d'Oro. I found that this location was just far enough away from the business of the city to be quiet but close enough for convenience to city center via bus or subway. A cab from centro storico to this location only cost around 10-12 Euros.

I found the staff to be very friendly and willing to help with any request. The only drawback to this location is that there are no air conditioners in the rooms which would have been nice as there was a week-long heat wave while I was there. But it's Europe - hardly anyone besides the big chain hotels have air conditioners. All that aside, when I asked the staff for a fan, it was in my room in 10 minutes! Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would return.

This is a nice out of the way place to stay. It's not in the heart of the city, and has a special allure for that reason. It is still easily accessible by foot, bus, metro, or car. The hotel is a converted mansion and that makes it a very unique place to stay, yet still has unique 40 rooms. All of the staff are very nice and (try to be) helpful, all speack english. My room was very sunny with a nice view, and nice cross breeze which made my stay enjoyable.
