“Incredible modern open air concert venue with the best disabled deal and facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Had the best night in Rome listening to Joan Baez under the stars. Went to venue on speck to get tickets and were delighted to be offered a free ticket for wheelchair user and discount for carer. All disabled seats are on back row but auditorium is small and views brilliant. Dont forget mosquito spray and slightly marred by people being able to smoke at back (odd that it is permissable so close to disabled - keep your inhaler handy!). But area is wide and most people discrete. Toilets easily accessed and spotless. Had very good veggie buffet and cocktail for 10 euros pp in restaurant to front of building on arrival. Highlight of our entertainment - highly recommend the experience, staff were absolutley lovely and very helpful. Looked for taxi on way out and local police flagged one down for us - now that really is good service!

“Just another concert hall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

Not easy to get to, a relatively underwhelming place with a large bookshop (for Italian speakers) and a so so bar/cafeteria. Why would one go unless it where to see a show?

“No wheelchair access.”

Great design by Renzo Piano, but if you carry a wheel chair or have long legs (seats) you'll have a hard time...

“Super Auditorium, pity about the Toileting arrangements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

Went on Sat 3/3/12 to see Pappano direct Janine Jansen etc. Enjoyed the music and enjoyed watching the true aficionadi react to the different movements, most thought THEY were the conductor, even more. During the interval I needed to use the facilties, Whoever was responsible for toileting arrangements deserved not to get paid. To set the scene, this was a classical concert attended by people of a certain age and even older. Given that a good proportion of men may have a problem with their waterworks, I don't think that 1 cubicle and no urinal in the mens room is acceptable, Thankfully nobody had twoseys to do, the last times I had to queue to use the gents were in the Stadio Olimpico and the Aviva - both catering for much larger crowds. Finishing on a more positive note the cafe at site does a great espresso for 50cents.

“a dumb concert hall”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

no doubts about architecture, which is really good in terms of design, nor about the need of such a place in Roma: nonetheless.... as a concert goer I believe that even hearing is important for a concert hall, and the whole thing is unfortunately very ar from being acoustically acceptable.

once in, you'll soon realize how much the building trusts in your legs (almost no lifts), and forethougts (a few hidden toilets at ground floor - only); then, in the main hall (Sala Santa Cecilia), an unbelievable plot of hanging tools will welcome you from the wood ceiling, smashing design into a junky mess of aborted attempts to improve acoustics, so that even in case you'll be able to override such an upsetting aesthetic frustration, no matter where you'll be seating you'l be soon very much missing your Hi Fi system at home.
