I'm afraid to say I was a little disappointed with Hotel Seiler. I was travelling on a budget so therefore was not expecting too much but I do at least expect a clean room. The bathroom was tiny with mould on the walls, and there was filth collecting in the corners of the room and under the bed.

From reading some of the other reviews it seems like this is not always the case but I would not stay here again or recommend this place to a friend.

On the plus side, the hotel is in a great location close to Termini and the main sights, plus the room was quite large.

Very good hotel, in a very good area (opposite the Italian Ministry of Defence) well kept and friendly staff. It is not a hotel for 'luxuries' but if you want a clean place to sleep then this is it. In walking distance of the colloseum and Vatican, good restaurants and bars in the area.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean and cheap hotel near all the attractions.

  • Liked — The area, very close to all the atractions

It was the worse hotel in our trip booked through the travel agency. I am not a picky person but...

Room did not have phone (had thought an instruction how to make a call). Hair dryers are limited and you have to wait until spare one is returned to the service desk. Shelf in bathroom constanly flipped over and stuff fell into the sink. The only small window could slightly open to the... sewing system and was havily covered by dust.

Breakfast was only bread with preserves and honey - no cheese, creem cheese, yogurt, fruits, etc that we had in other 2** hotels. Coffee - can't swallow. The good thing was - food store not too far from hotel

The location can't be better - 3 min walk to the subway, walking distance (even with suitecases) to the train station.

Consider this hotel ONLY if you are on tight budget.

I have read some of the reviews of this modestly priced centrally located hotel, situated off the Via Nazionale, and within easy walking distance of Termini Station, even with wheeled suitcases.

Some of the reviewers, (travel newbies, I expect) complain about the room sizes and the amenities.

Are the bedrooms small?
"Si".

Are they clean, and is the bed comfortable?
"Si".

Is there plenty of hot water and fluffy towels in the closet sized bathrooms?
"Si".

Are they luxury suites -- suitable for entertaining or for practicing your kungfu, martial arts, or ballroom dancing steps?
"Definitely not."

These are TOURIST CLASS rooms. You get what you pay for. if you want a larger room, book at any one of the nearby American style hotel brands. You'll get a larger room, you'll get your ham and eggs, and you will be presented with a much larger bill.

We felt that the Seiler Hotel had an old-world ambience, splendid architectural details, charming courtyards, quaint views of the backs of nearby buildings in their terra cotta and other earth tones and shutters, breathtaking staircases, and friendly, multi-lingual staff.

There was an elevator, suitable for one person with luggage, or two to three well acquainted persons without baggage. Togetherness is the key word for this elevator. It worked perfectly.

The breakfast offered was perfectly adeqaute, if not large. I read that Italians don't eat much of a colazione (breakfast), but compensate at pranzo (lunch or dinner).

The thing is, people must READ before they travel, so they know what to expect. I enjoyed my honey and Nutella with crusty rolls and croissants. I found the coffee deliciously strong, Fruit juices were available, and frankly-- this hotel, and breakfast, was everything I had come to expect.

We have stayed in tiny rooms in London, and Paris, Florence, Venice, and New York City, and we know that you get what you pay for. If a hotel room is clean and comfortable, that's all we want. We like to spend our money on other things when travelling, such as opera tickets or spectacular meals.

After a long, hard, happy day of discovering Roma, we found our little slice of heaven at the Seiler Hotel.

I have no reservations about making a reservation there again.

The first impression was okay as the entrance really looks nice but that's it! The check-in was friendly this is the only good thing I can say about the hotel. Our room was so small that it was not possible to open our trolleys except on the bed - the smallest room I ever had in my life! The same with the bathroom - it was so small that you could hardly move. The window was to the backyard - at least it was quit.
Breakfast room is in the basement and is dark and unfriendly. Service is not existing there. The breakfast generally was poor - we learned to go out for breakfast. The hotel is simply not worse the money you pay.
