Our stay here was great. I totally loved our room - we booked one of the "Smart rooms" and, though I don't know what the regular rooms are like, these are amazing. Totally beautiful rooms (see pics). The bathroom also had marble tiles, and the tub has jets! There is also a bar fridge, TV, and air conditioning that works great. I found the rooms to be nice and quiet as well. Just loved it.

This hotel is away from central Rome, but once you find out how easy it is to take the subway, you'll be happy you stayed here instead of the hustle and bustle of downtown. The subway is a couple minutes to walk to, and it is VERY easy to get downtown. Just ask the people at the front desk where to find the station nearby, and where you need to get off. We kept getting off at the Colosseum, then hopping on the tour busses that took us all around town. You can buy passes on these tour busses, and you'll get to see everything and can hop on and off whenever.

The breakfasts here are absolutely excellent, and are served on a lovely covered patio outside on the top floor. You get some nice views of the surrounding neighborhood from up here. I really enjoyed breakfasts here - they had one of the best buffets that we saw at any accomodation while in Italy.

You can access Internet here for a small fee. There is also a small bar downstairs in the lobby area where you can sit and have a drink.

I found most of the staff to be very friendly, with exception of an older woman at the front who didn't look too happy to be there. But the others were very friendly and always glad to help with anything. They all speak excellent english as well.

I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed in Villa Morgagni for 4 days in September. We had a good deal via Venere.com so it was a reasonable choice before we go. I'd read all the reviews before we left and agree with all the good points. Reception kind and friendly, very helpful. We didn't eat around the hotel but there is a small cafe just round the corner on via treviso, 3 tables outside on the pavement nothing fancy. Good coffee for 70 cents, cappucino for 90 cents. It's lovely in shade and you feel you are in "real" Rome which is a hard find in tourist oriented central Rome. Now back to Hotel; the rooms are lovely, so are the bathrooms. Walls are covered with fabric and everywhere is increadibly clean. Breakfast on the terrace is wonderful and yes you need to ask for "Italian coffee" or cappucino. American coffee they keep on the table is not very nice. Breakfast was varied with pastry and fruits.
Hotel is very close to a metro station and you can stopover at Termini station on the way for whatever you need, any time of the day.
Good walking shoes and Rome Pass are essential if you are staying more than a day.
Don't think twice before booking this hotel if you are after informal comfort, easy to reach location and taste of the real city.

We stayed in the Hotel Villa Morgagni for four nights in July before moving on to Florence. We booked using 'Expedia'.
The hotel is situated quite far out from the city of Rome. However, it is very close to a tube station which does give speedy access to the centre. We took the tram into central Rome a couple of nights. There are a couple of lovely restaurants just a few stops away from the hotel and the area was safe to walk through at night.
The hotel itself is very nice with friendly staff. Our room was extremely small, but well presented and very clean. The shower room was tiny, but again clean with plenty of towels and toilettries. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and there was a very good variety of foods available.
Although this is a good hotel I would not stay in it again due to location.
We had a lovely time in Rome and visited all the usual sights-Vatican, Colloseum, Trevi Fountain, etc. Tip if first time visiting Rome-do not purchase a 'Roma Pass' unless you are intending to visit many museums (as it offers very little else). It doesn't even allow entry into the Vatican Museum.

The Villa Morgagni is very well located: you have to walk only 2 minutes (300 m) from the metro station Policlinico (Line B) to the hotel. The location is very safe; we were strolling in the area late at night and there was nothing which would let us feel in danger. The hotel has 4 floors, whereas the 4th floor is the terrace where you are served breakfast. The room was nice and very clean (small, but not tiny). The air conditioning is a must if you are in Rome during summer and this hotel offers it in every room. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I asked the receptionist to make me a reservation for the Galleria Borghese and it was no problem (the only way to do ONLY a reservation for the Galleria Borghese is by phone!). The breakfast (served between 7.00 and 10.30) here is fantastic, we were really pleasantly surprised by the variety offered to us. There is also a turkish bath in the underground, but you have to pay for it.
A small disadvantage is the fact that the nearest metro station (Policlinico) is served by the Line B and you'll have to change at Termini to Line A to get to almost all tourist attractions (except the Colosseum which on the track of Line B). This will cost you some time and energy and you will not want to be very often in the Termini station because it smells badly and you're risking to get pickpocketed.
Another downside is that you have to pay (4 Euros/hour) to use their computer in the lobby (though they offer WiFi in your room if you bring your notebook, I believe).
If you are looking for a supermarket in Rome (in case you want to pay 1.60 for a 1,5 L coke instead of 4-5 Euros in the center), you'll encounter some serious trouble, because there are almost none or very hard to find if you don't know exactly where to go (at least in August).
Here are some we found along the way:

1) Near Pantheon on Via Giustiana
2) On some small street which ends in Piazza Navona
3) http://www.supermercatigs.it for GS Supermarkets

Me and my husband stayed here for five nights in July. We wanted something at a reasonable price, not to faraway from the city. We payed about a total of 350 euro for the whole stay.

Room
The room we got was small and with a tiny bathroom. When we first enter the room it smelled a bit funky (every day), almost like mold, but that smell disappered fast, I guess we got used to it. But I sneezed a lot during our stay.

Aircondition in room was great.

The room is very old-fashioned decorated with like paisley-cloth and stuff. Bed was comfy. Cleaning good.

We found no hotelinformation on the room, like how much the minibar costed and so on. The TV did not work properly.

Breakfast
Breakfast was good, on the terrace with fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, lots of sweets, yoghurts. You could also get great italian coffee if you asked the staff! =)

Reception
The staff at the reception was ok. They did there job but not really much more. No queues at checking in or out.

Surroundings
The area around the hotel is kind of boring. We found no shops etc. But there is a great little pizza-place nearby where you can buy great, cheap pizza.

The hotel is really close both to buses and Metro, just 2-3 minutes away. Two metro-stops from Termini (centralstation), where you have to switch if you're going to everywhere else but the Colosseum. It's easy to travel by Metro, Rome only has two lines.

So, location is quite good for being in the outskirts, and we were pleased with the cost. But we felt like we got what we payed for, nothing more.
