We booked this hotel as we were looking for a relatively cheap option in a good location in rome. The hotel is not located in the historic center of rome (if that's what you're looking for, do not book here). The place is located near piazza bologna - this is 2 stops from the termini on line b of the roman metro.
The metro station is about 150m away, and very close. The nighborhood nearby is actually very suburban, there are a few cafes, restaurants were far and few. There is a very good restaurant i prehistorici which is located very close to the restaurant - a local favorite it seemed as everyone else was italian - their seafood pasta was to die for and very reasonably priced. Otherwise, however there was not the tourist bustle that you would expect.
Rooms were standard Mercure hotel rooms - clean beds, quiet room, a refrigerator, TV, night stands, and nice bathroom. room was average sized for europe. Safe was also included. No free internet, breakfast was extra 6 euros for italian, 13 euros for continental breakfast. did not try anything at the hotel cafe/bar so can not comment on the food.
For its location and being so close to historic center of rome, it was a great buy and bargain. There is an internet point across from the hotel with much better internet rates (2 euros/hour vs. the 32cents/minute they were going to charge).
i would stay at this hotel again, but be warned that there is not much to do nearby. I would give the hotel 2-3 star rating.
