“Nice and clean hotel in very active area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

I had a meeting in the university "Sapienza" in rome and stayed in this hotel since it was in walking distance. The lobby already made a good impression, the receptionist was friendly and very helpful. My room was on the first floor to the back of the hotel away from the plaza.
I had booked a single room but got a double room with two single beds and a large bathroom. It was clean and tidy. However, I missed a ceiling light. But apparently, this is very common in Rome. So, not such a big deal.
The breakfast was reasonable, they had couple of different cereals, buns, croissants, and so on. I enjoyed it.
One disadvantage was the internet. Although it was free, it had some connection problems. For me it was not clear what the reason was. However, in the lobby is pc you can use 24/7 for free.
If I ever come back to Rome I will definitely stay again in this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms looking away from the plaza are quieter

Very good base for Unversity work, OK for eating out, not bad for accessing historic sites.

We had a tough time finding it and felt quite foolish once we got our bearings. If you arrive at termini you can walk ten minutes to the hotel (without luggage) by via Marsala all the way to the arches, then go into San Lorenzo which is surrounded by old walls. We were anxious about the area but found once we were inside the walls, it was quite pleasant. The hotel is directly across from the church, so it is easy to find. The reception workers, all older gentlemen, didn't speak English very well. We checked in and went to our room. We found the hotel, aside from the first floor, to be gloomy and outdated. However, the rooms were spacious compared to our previous hotel in Rome and the bathroom was a very good size. The room was extremely clean and we were given toiletries that I wouldn't have expected, like toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, etc. These were replenished daily! What I didn't like was that the toilet needed to be flushed multiple times to actually work (once it took eight tries). The walls are paper thin and we had very inconsiderate neighbors, when they were gone it was very peaceful. Finally the church bells ring every half hour very loudly from 0830 to 2130 which is annoying if you want to nap. Overall a good hotel.

I stayed in this hotel with my family for an overnight stay and was enough to understand everything about it. It'ss placed in a really nice location,"San Lorenzo",a very eventful district quite close to the city centre,as well. The staff is warm ( i really appreciated the kindness of the receptionist),the rooms are surprisingly clean (in the bathroom you could walk with bare feet ,i swear) and spacious as well.
There's free wifi (you have just to enter their code on your laptop),the breakfast is included ( there's lot of stuff: pies, cakes, fruit juice,biscuits,ham...) and the price is sooo cheap: we paid around 40 euros (33 pounds) per person.
There's also an excellent restaurant called "I Fratelli" just after the first side street.
Definitely recommended.

Our group of 30 - school trip consisting of high school students, teachers, parents and grandparents stayed five nights at Hotel Laurentia. As another reviewer noted the location is somewhat "gloomy" but the accessibility to Termini and nearby cafes was very nice. Our lodging consisted of a large bedroom, large bathroom and hallway with chair and coat rack - my husband, son and I were very satisfied with the accommodations.

Room Tip: Request a room that is not over the street cafe to avoid late night noise.

Small hotel conveniently located in San Lorenzo, in the immediate surroundings of the main railway station and the university. Nice staff. Very good price and service.

In my frequent visits to Rome , I have stayed at this small hotel quite few time.
The hotel is conveniently located in San Lorenzo very easy to reach from the rail stations either Termini Station or Tiburtina Station never more than 7€ Euro of a taxi ride.
It is great if you have to attend or you have some business at local La Sapienza University ( like in my case) 5 min. walk.
Rooms tough a bit dated are clean and comfortable. Free wi-fi connection everywhere. Great continental breakfast.
At night many good options for local dining from very simple pizza places to restaurants and pubs where to grab a drink .
For those who like to visit town tough not right in the city center it is very easy to reach main sites by bus number 492 and 71 ...just from the main road behind the hotel.
The reception staff is very professional and accommodating I had to shorten my stay in two different occasion and they never charged me a penalty for doing so. They help ed me with taxi arrangements and left luggages.
Rates if you book well in advance are really great for a town like Rome.
Definitely a place to stay in the Eternal City.
