The room was not ready when we got there (well after check in) and they asked us to leave our luggage in the lobby and come back in 45 minutes. WE WERE EXAUHSTED...and not to mention the pick up they scheduled for us at the airport never showed. They insist the guy was waiting for us there but we spend a good hour in the airport looking for our pick up.

The room is pretty small, not bad, great location and pretty much everyone speaks English, French or Spanish. The air didnt work the first night and it just so happened to be that it was 35 degrees celsius (95 F?) so it was UNBAREABLE!

All in all, it was somewhere to rest our head, breakfast was great and on the balcony which was awesome and they were all friendly and very helpful. For what its worth I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed for the third time at Canova. Excellent positioned near Termini but in quiet surroundings.
Rooms have always been basic but clean. I cannot help that I am a bit dissapointed about the breakfast: 1/ Coffeemachine produces weak coffe - all alternatives are well below satisfaction
2/ Yoghurts - great but no plain for a diabetic like me and kept for long in room temperature
3/ Cheese in plastic wrapping - in the land of delicious food Italy (can´t be so difficult to serve a couple of cheese pieces and a knife)
Despite the breakfast - I will probably return - bringing my own instant coffee to get a proper start for the day

All the hotels in my guide book were booked so I had to scramble and I found Hotel Canova based on the location through Google Earth. It was a great find. The hotel was well located between Termini and The Victor Emanuelle monument ( closer to Termini). The rooms were brand new, the staff was very, very friendly and the street was quiet. The breakfast was adequate, not great though. Overall it was a positive experience and I wouldn't think twice about staying there again in the future.

Nice, small Hotel in a relatively quiet off-street. 5 Minutes walk from main station Termini and/or subway station Cavour. But beware of the old streets which will ruin ladies' shoes and/or the wheels of your luggage! I urgently recommend a taxi for about 8 Euro! - Receptionists very friendly and helpful. City map of Rome available for free. Elevator very small, nearly fits two people with luggage! Rooms are clean and have a Bidet (!) in the Bathroom but no Kleenex! Beds comfortable. TV is tiny but features CNN in good quality. No Internet access in rooms or Lobby, but two Internet Cafés in waklking distance. (1 Euro per hour). Try to get a room facing the back of the Hotel, however it is close to the balconies of private people in the near apartments, thus you may hear children crying and music - but in any case better than the traffic noise in rooms facing Via Urbana.
Positive: Built-in safe in the quite small cabinet!
Negative: Doors of cabinet, bathroom etc. squeaking like in a haunted castle but we did not see any ghost.
Breakfast served in a nice room with an impressive painting of the Vesuvio eruption Cereals, ham, cheese, biscuits. No fresh fruits or eggs but still better than in similar Hotels I stayed in....
Great Espresso, coffee, Capuccino!
No Smoking recommended in the entire Hotel.

I think where ever we stayed I wouldn't have minded because I was back in Rome!
The Hotel was adequate for our 4 night stay. The roof terrace was closed for breakfast which was a disappointment, and the room was the tiniest room we had ever stayed in, but my boyfriend and I agreed the 3 main things in the room for us were.. a great bed very comfortable, a great shower and a great working air con system.
Would we stay here again ... probably not , because we found it was a bit far out to the trevii fountain area for us each day, I would probably pick somewhere nearer there next time worth the extra money!.

But overall a good stay and the staff were very helpful.
