My family of four truly enjoyed our 2 night stay in Rome at the Mozart VIVALDI SUITES before we boarded a cruise ship. I have high expectations of a vacation and I believe that a good hotel can make ALL the difference during a vacation. Staying in the VIVALDI SUITES was the nicest part of our 2 day visit. The rooms were very clean, quiet and it was great to have the laptop and the plasma TV. My teenagers were fascinated! WHATEVER YOU DO IN ROME DO NOT TAKE THE 110 TRAMBUS! It was the biggest mistake, and ruined what should have been a memorable day in Rome, a horrible day in Rome! I only wish the front desk clerk would have discouraged us from going. Not only it is a rip-off, but you are fearful to get off the bus to see the sights, as there are long lines to re-board the bus in the horrifying July heat! I was very disappointed with the meals we had in Rome. I will not go back to Rome in the near future, however I would recommend the Mozart Vivaldi Suites to family and friends. I can't say anything about the main hotel (right off the reception area). I should also inform you that in order to get to one's room you must hike up a few flights of stairs. I did not mind, in fact I much prefer. I did see a small elevator, but it looked to me more like a service elevator.
The breakfast tray that the nice housekeeper's bring to your room is a decent way to start your day. Personally though, I do not like to eat in the room, even after insisting to the front desk if we could have breakfast in the main b'fast area or the rooftop, they still did not let us. They have their little rules about the way they want to run things. Overall, our hotel stay exceeded our expectations. I truly did not know what to expect, as I got the hotel from a previous guest on cruisecritc.com, and then checked out all the good reviews from other guests on tripadvisor...Thank you to Drew who told me about the Mozart.
