Where to start.......the staff at Ave Roma Salvo, Vera and Diana made us feel at home.
We split our stay at this hotel arriving for 3 nights and then staying another 3 nights at the end of 2 plus weeks of visiting Italy. We used two different rooms.
We arrived at Ave Roma at 8 am, weary from our trip from the USA. Weary from the time change and jet lag, Vera placed us in a room to take a nap. Check-in was not unitl the afternoon. She made us feel most welcomed.
We met the Manager Salvo later that night who made us feel at home. We developed a "kinship" with Vera and Salvo. They went out of their way to assist us with our discovery of Rome. They did this with all of the guests we spoke to.
The hotel is only 8 rooms, each somewhat different. Each room is sound proofed with cloth covered walls and double windows to keep out the street noise. The beds are top notch, and quite firm. The baths are in excellent shape with new fixtures. Salvo takes pride in running the place and told me that they steam clean the wall coverings every 3 months. He has been at the hotel for 7 years and will give you his cell number if you need anything. We stayed in 5 different hotels during our 3 weeks in Italy and Ave Roma was the best. A hidden gem.
The breakfast area is small and can only handle 6 people at a time. Ave Roma offers breakfast in your room if you want. The area has a large screen LCD TV and they offer juices, cafe, fruit, dry cereal, cookies and some sort of cake along with other stuff. It satisfied us each morning.
Ave Roma has a hidden internet room overlooking the alley behind the hotel. I always visited this space to read up on news.
Ave Roma is situated in the historic part of Rome and do not expect to find a large sign out front. The sign on the front of the building is about 1 foot by 1 foot if that. Local laws prohibit anything larger.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk to Piazza Novonna and is within walking distance the Castle, Vatican, Steps, Trevi Fountain, Palatine Hill, etc. You couldn't ask for a better location in a historic city.
This is a hotel that makes you want to come back to Rome.
