My boyfriend and I were visiting Rome for the first time and wanted to find a hotel which was close to all the attractions, located in a safe cultural area and reasonably priced - Residenza Ave Hotel ticked all these boxes.
Located within 10 - 15 mins walking distance of all the attractions this hotel was perfectly situated for sightseeing and taking in all the culture Rome has to offer. Surrounded by boutique restaurants and small clusters of shops, everything we needed was practically on our doorstep.
The staff were amazing, very attentive and always making sure we were enjoying our stay. Salvo even gave us his mobile number and told us to call him out of hours if we ever got lost or need help with anything.
Salvo was really helpful in pointing out the best places to see and ways to get there. We were originally going to book tickets on the 'hop on hop off' tour bus to all the main attractions but after speaking with Salvo we realised how close we were to everything and decided to walk the sights in stead. This was a great decision as it also allowed us to explore the romantic side streets and walkways of Rome. We did catch a local bus to the Colloseum which cost 1 euro each and departned within 2 mins walk of the hotel.
The hotel itself is very boutique with plenty of homely touches which make it special. The room was not huge but well decorated, very clean and perfect for a long weekend away. We stayed in room 5 which consisted of a 4 post bed, flat screen and well equipt bathroom.
Dont be put off by the outside of the hotel which is pretty much a door in the wall which could be easily missed. Having walked around Rome this seems to be the standard for boutique hotels in the area.
All in all this hotel is a real find with its charming quirks only adding to the experience . We loved Rome so much we are looking to go back in November and will definitely stay here again.
