A taxi to this hotel from Leonardo airport was 45 euros. A train to Termini station in Rome and subway to Cornelia would have cost 13 euros per person but at night don't do it as you won't find the hotel easily and you will be scared when you get off the subway and try to make the ten minute walk to the hotel . The Marc Aurelia is in the middle of a very run down residential area with grafitti and dog pooh everywhere. The Hotel looks like it was built in the seventies and nothing has been done to it since. We stayed on the sixth floor and the wallpaper was hanging off the walls where it joined the extensively stained ceiling. It appeared the roof had leaked at some point. If we had had our three children with us I think my wife would have cried. As it was the room was clean, the sheets and towels were well laundered and the bathroom was okay. The hotel receptionist gave us an information sheet on arrival which included details of the nearest bus and subway stations. It also stated that bus/subway tickets could be purchased from the newsagent opposite. Don't buy them there! We paid 11 euros each for a 3 day travel pass only to discover that the shop owner had given us 1 day tickets valued at 4 euros. When we complained he just shrugged his shoulders and refused to give us our money back. We complained to the hotel receptionist who also just shrugged his shoulders. I asked for the police and was told there was no point contacting them. I was then given some single journey passes by the receptionist to get us back into Rome. This was very annoying. I would not stay here again but it was okay for a cheap trip.
