i stayed at this hotel in june of this year. the location was perfect, right outside the front of the hotel was pubs and cafes and there is also a little market where you can buy cheap food and drink. The Termini is 2 minutes away so if you are planning on travelling around a little bit by trains you dont have to worry about a long walk.
In terms of the standard of hotel, the down stairs was basic, it has a small breakfast room with a little spread and tv, however all the staff are very helpful and when you check in they give you a map of the city so you can find your way around easier. they also have a place for you to store your cases if need be. The rooms were small but had everything you needed, tv hairdryer and a good bathroom. A couple of people have moaned and said not to stay here but being a travel agent and having stayed at alot of different hotels i would say that if you are looking for a base, just somewhere to sleep at night then stay at the hotel flower garden.

After a 5 min walk from Termini and watching your pocket book around Termini, you'll get to this hotel. Very basic and not as nice as other 3 start hotels we stayed in Italy! Maybe a 1.5 or 2 stars in my opinion! Rooms were very small, long bathroom, rusty bath tubs, cheap amenities but not so cheap to stay! This hotel could use renovation. Rooms were so small that forces you to just change clothes and get out! Noticed they did not change sheets and just remade bed. Breakfast was very very basic with instant coffee machine and pre-packaged Croissant!! Milk, cheese, and boiled eggs was sitting out all morning and warm! There was a tiny elevator, which is another plus. Location was really good, walking distance to Republica, and other fountains, close to train to go to Vatican.

If you are looking for a place to "crash" or sleep for just a couple of nights, then Flower Garden Hotel will suffice. However, my cousin and I did not have a very good experience at the hotel. Although this is the fault of the booking agency, when we called to confirm our hotel shuttle from FCO airport to the hotel night person at the desk said that no shuttle was arranged and that we had to take a train. Being two female travelers, we were uncomfortable with taking the train in the evening in an unfamiliar place. Also, the location of the hotel is a bit sketchy, we didn't feel too safe in the area. There wasn't any particular thing that stood out, but I would have felt safer with a male traveler in the area. When we finally got to the hotel, the same person I talked to the night before spoke English just fine, but in person he would only speak Italian to us, when he clearly knew that we did not speak the language. This was unsettling because I knew he spoke English, and he was choosing to only speak Italian (granted that it is his native tongue, but it was still unprofessional since he is doing business in a tourist location). After he gave us the key to our room, he motioned that there is no smoking in the room, which was fine because we don't smoke. However, upon our arrival to the room, it reeked of smoke making it difficult to breathe. Also, I did not sleep a wink that night because the room faced the street (make sure to get a room not facing the street if you are a light sleeper) and it was extremely hot (I suggest paying the extra 5 euro to have the ac turned on). Also, when I called from the room to ask where the electrical outlet was to charge my phone, he couldn't help and mumbled something about the map of Rome and hung up abruptly. Also the safe in our room was already locked and could not be opened.
The rooms/bathroom, were clean and tidy, it was average. We didn't have time for breakfast, but the morning staff was much friendlier and spoke English. Although these events may have just happened to us, I just want to inform potential customers of our unpleasant experience. If I had to do it over again, I would pay more money at a higher quality hotel, but rather feel safe. If you decide to stay here I hope you have a much better experience than we did! Hope this helps!

Unfortunately we had to stay in a different hotel for the first of our three nights because of over booking. The room in hotel flower garden was very small but nicely decorated, the bathroom was adequate & clean.Breakfast very basic no meats just bread cheese jam & cereal. Resturant nearby in tower (sorry cannot remember name but you can't miss it) poor food and extremely overpriced. Must shop around for good food & value for money.
Druids rock irish bar fantastic as usual excellent staff, sensibly priced drinks compared to some bars.
