If you are looking for a place to "crash" or sleep for just a couple of nights, then Flower Garden Hotel will suffice. However, my cousin and I did not have a very good experience at the hotel. Although this is the fault of the booking agency, when we called to confirm our hotel shuttle from FCO airport to the hotel night person at the desk said that no shuttle was arranged and that we had to take a train. Being two female travelers, we were uncomfortable with taking the train in the evening in an unfamiliar place. Also, the location of the hotel is a bit sketchy, we didn't feel too safe in the area. There wasn't any particular thing that stood out, but I would have felt safer with a male traveler in the area. When we finally got to the hotel, the same person I talked to the night before spoke English just fine, but in person he would only speak Italian to us, when he clearly knew that we did not speak the language. This was unsettling because I knew he spoke English, and he was choosing to only speak Italian (granted that it is his native tongue, but it was still unprofessional since he is doing business in a tourist location). After he gave us the key to our room, he motioned that there is no smoking in the room, which was fine because we don't smoke. However, upon our arrival to the room, it reeked of smoke making it difficult to breathe. Also, I did not sleep a wink that night because the room faced the street (make sure to get a room not facing the street if you are a light sleeper) and it was extremely hot (I suggest paying the extra 5 euro to have the ac turned on). Also, when I called from the room to ask where the electrical outlet was to charge my phone, he couldn't help and mumbled something about the map of Rome and hung up abruptly. Also the safe in our room was already locked and could not be opened.
The rooms/bathroom, were clean and tidy, it was average. We didn't have time for breakfast, but the morning staff was much friendlier and spoke English. Although these events may have just happened to us, I just want to inform potential customers of our unpleasant experience. If I had to do it over again, I would pay more money at a higher quality hotel, but rather feel safe. If you decide to stay here I hope you have a much better experience than we did! Hope this helps!

Unfortunately we had to stay in a different hotel for the first of our three nights because of over booking. The room in hotel flower garden was very small but nicely decorated, the bathroom was adequate & clean.Breakfast very basic no meats just bread cheese jam & cereal. Resturant nearby in tower (sorry cannot remember name but you can't miss it) poor food and extremely overpriced. Must shop around for good food & value for money.
Druids rock irish bar fantastic as usual excellent staff, sensibly priced drinks compared to some bars.

We stayed at Flower Garden hotel for 3 nights at the end of March, 2009. We were very impressed by the staff as they were vey friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, not very big but not too small, very cozy and comfortable (the beds are excellent). Very clean, the rooms are cleaned every day. The bathroom was spacious. The American Breakfast is ok, the croissants and donuts are absolutely delicious, but if you don't eat cereals with milk, cheese, boiled eags and jam for breakfast, you might have a problem.
Very near to Termini station (2 minutes walk), is very easy to reach the city center (only 2 metro station till the Colloseum or 30 - 40 minutes walk).
We really felt very well in this hotel and we will definetely return (hopely in the summer).

The location of this hotel is excellent-very close to Termini and a few minutres from Santa Maria Maggiore. The personnel is very nice, kind and helpful. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are different sizes (some very small, some bigger) and the furniture classic. There is just one small elevator in the hotel (it is enough considering that it is a small hotel) and also a minibar in the room. The main problems are regarding the breakfast (cold and few choices-good coffee anyway) and the fact that the house-keeping doen't do a very good job!!! If you don't spend much time in the hotel, it is ok, but if you want something above average, choose another hotel.
