I went to the flaminius hotel with my friend, both of us being 18 yrs old wanting a short city break werent too sure what to expect, having read some awful reviews and some good ones we were expecting to be slightly disappointed.

However this hotel did not disappoint us in the slightest, after battling with the metro and the trains to get to La Celsa, when we arrived there in the dark after a long day of travelling I was getting quite stressed and when we left the metro station it was like we were in the middle of nowhere, however we asked a friendly local who pointed us in the right direction and we found it after 200m.

We found one of the consierge, extremely helpful and was willing to help with everything.
We had a new double room, where within 5 minutes I had managed to cut off all the electricity by pressing a green button, I wouldnt recommend you do this!
Anyway the decor was very modern, we had a lovely big room with a flat screen tv which unfortunately the only english channel was CNN which got a little repetitive, but it was ok!

It was extremely clean the floor was spotless and the bathroom was small but everything was packed in nicely, a big shower cubicle, which had a reasonably powerful shower.

The breakfast was lovely, the crossiants were fresh and a wide selection of jams and nutella, also there was different breads and cheeses, or cereal, cakes and fruit. Which was good to fill up on and set us up for the day.

The travelling around is the only downside as it is quite a way out of the way, however you can buy a tram ticket for 1 euro which lasts for 75 minutes and easily gets you to where you want to be.

There is a resturant next to the hotel which is a family run place which serves pasta and pizza, Im sure in the summer months would have more people in it, but we got take away pizza and a bbottle of wine for 25 euro which was reasonable as the pizzas are a good size.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and loved Rome, it is good value for money and for a short break I would go back.

We only had one night here, but that was more than enough. Very damp, smelly room, shower head spraying straight out of bathroom into the bedroom was the cause of the smell..The sodden carpet had caused damp up the walls of the room to about 9inches, with the plaster falling off. We stayed in annexe next to hotel, accessed by a tunnel under the road. However the staff were very pleasant & courtious.

We stayed at Flaminius hotel in December 2006 only for a night. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, unless you don’t have any other option. It is outside the city and it takes 30 minutes to get there from Flaminio metro station. Then it’s a 5 minutes walk in the middle of the highway.

The hotel is located in the middle of the highway and you can hear the cars passing by. The facilities are old and the bathroom is even worse! When you turn on the light there is this loud fan that also gets on. The toilet is very old and I question its cleanliness. We couldn’t take a shower with the faucet open because the drain clogs and the water overflows. The breakfast is horrible!!! There were only industrial pastries and juice (water with sugar and colorants). The cleaning lady serves the coffee during breakfast.

The explanation given by other reviewers of how to get there is perfect. The train that takes you there from Rome is beyond filthy and during the night you have to watch out because the train stops don’t have proper lighting and the signs with the name of the stops are all full with graffiti making it impossible to read where you are. We paid 100€ for the night, way more than the other hotel we were staying in the previous days in Rome.

We stayed at Flaminius Hotel Rome for three days in mid-July. The hotel is simple and clean. The staff were very friendly and all spoke good English. Our room (triple) was spacious. Although the hotel is located near a freeway and train track, it is very quiet at night after the last train at about 11pm. The best thing about Flaminius Hotel is its whisper-quite air conditioning unit which has a digital remote control allowing you to set the exact desired room temperature. The breakfast room is large and has about 10 tables. Breakfast started at 7am and included croissant, bread, cake, cereals, milk, coffee, juices, and even some tomato slices and green beans. The hotel’s location is outside city of Rome but is on a commuter train route. From the Fiumicino Airport, you can take an express train to Termini (9.5-euro) and then change to Metro (1-euro) from Termini to Flaminio. Exit the Flaminio Metro station and get to the commuter train station next to it. The same 1-euro Metro ticket is good for the commuter train ride from Flaminio to La Celsa (about 10 train stops). After you get off the train stop, cross the street and walk in the same direction as the train on Via Frassineto for about 200 meters to the Hotel. Make sure you get off the train at La Celsa stop, not Prima Porta stop even though both stops are about 200m from the hotel. From the Fiumicino Airport you can also take the local train (5-euro) to Ostiense station and change to Metro Station Piramide (a short 5 minute walk with escalator). For a 1-euro Metro ticket, you can go from Piramide to Termini on Line B and change to Line A from Termini to Flaminio. Then exit Metro station at Flaminio to take the commuter train next door with the same Metro ticket. Ride on the commuter train for 10 stops until you reach La Celsa station. The airport express train will probably save you about 15 minutes. You can buy tickets for the airport train and Metro inside the airport train station and validate the Metro ticket later at a Metro station. It will take about 1 hour 10 minutes from the airport to Flaminius station. It will take another 30 minutes from Flaminius station to the hotel (5-10min waiting, 15min train ride, 5min walking). If you arrive at the Ciampino Airport, you can take a regional train first to Termini and then change to Metro to Flaminius and then to the commuter train to the hotel at La Celsa station. Another option is to take a bus to the nearby Metro Anagnina Station and then from Anagnina to Flaminius and change to commuter train from Flaminius to La Celsa. The same 1-euro Metro ticket will take care all the way. If you drive, the hotel has some limited parking space.
