This hotel is in a wing of a Monastery of the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. It is attached to the Basilica and you enter the hotel by a door to the right of the church. The lobby is lovely and is very inviting. All staff speak some English. We were there May 25, 09 for two nights and had a room on the second floor. To get to our room we had to walk down a hall, insert our key card into a slot to get the door to swing open, lug our suitcases down a half dozen stairs, walk through a lower floor to get to the elevator (the breakfast room is on this same level). The hall on our floor was airy and spacious with windows looking down into the garden. Our room was equipped for 3 people and had high ceilings, spacious bathroom with bidet, in-wall hairdryer and the usual tiny soaps, shower caps, shampoo and conditioner, no washcloth. The room is equipped with a safe and refrigerator (which barely keeps drinks cold). The beds were twin beds and hard, hard, hard mattresses, to the point that it was hard for me to sleep, but my husband had no problem. The air conditioning was nonexistent even though they said it was working. A slight breeze from the open window was our salvation. We looked down onto a soccer area and one night rowdy teenagers played until 9:30 p.m., no problem for us, but would be if putting small children to bed. Breakfast was way beyond what most low cost hotels would furnish - processed meats, cheeses, sweet rolls, yogurts, cereals, coffee. It would be hard to walk away hungry. Just wish our early flight had not kept us from missing out the second morning. All in all it was a clean, simple hotel in a great location to busses and about a 20 minute walk past a park to the Metro.
