After reading the other reviews we asked that our hotel room be on the garden side, when we arrived we found our room over looking the road, the air conditioning not working and our bedroom that should have been three seperate beds was a double and a childrens sized bed! When we asked for something to be done we were met with surly staff saying that nothing could happen until the next day, after much insistance we eventually got another child's bed, and promised that we would be moved the following day. This was a pain as we were only there for two nights. The next room was bigger with 3 proper beds, the actual hotel was clean and the breakfast was fantastic, fresh bread, ham and cheese, with great cakes and danishes for breakfast along with tea (all be it cold) coffee and orange juice. There was a mini bar in the hotel room, but no place for drinking water, would have been nice for some tea making facilites other than one coffee machine that was broken for most of the visit. You will only get one pillow and heaven forbid that you ask for more - they don't like it! PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE HOTEL WHERE TO GO FOR DINNER - WE WERE RIPPED OFF WHEN WE ASKED, THE RESTAURANT HAD A TABLE FOR 12 READY AND WE ORDERED WINE AT 6.00 EUROS A BOTTLE, AND WERE CHARGED 15 EUROS A BOTTLE, COFFEE WAS COLD AND THE FOOD TERRIBLE. Look around and never take the first restaurant you see. You will be charged for bread if you eat it when they put it on the table - it is not complimentry like in England. Another tip, get the hotel you do chose to order you a taxi to collect you from the airport it is a lot cheaper that way round.

We booked this hotel through Easyjet as a birthday getaway and had a swell time. The hotel is easy to get to from Termini, with about a 25 minute walk through what appears to be the Chinatown area of the city. The hotel, which is easily accessible from a door to the right of the main entrance, is just 5 minutes walk from the San Giovanni metro stop at the bottom right corner of most central-Rome maps. There is a small two minute trek from the front door to the hotel rooms, but we found that this added to the charm and the security of the stay. We asked for a room in the new wing and were lucky to get one of the bigger rooms there - room 209 - which was a fair distance from the main road and overlooked the inner courtyard. We had no problems with the king size bed, which was firm but comfortable. The bathroom was also a decent size, as was the huge wardrobe. Our room was mega warm, perhaps to warm the bones of some of the elderly folk staying there, so we often opened the windows for an intake of fresh air. There is aircon in the rooms but we rarely twiddled with it. We wouldn't say that our stay as noisy, though you can hear sounds from adjacent rooms, such as shower water etc, I wouldn't go as far as to say that this disrupted the peace. We ate a hearty breakfast every morning, picking from cereals, toast with or without ham and cheese, yoghurt, pastries and a limited selection of fruit. If you wanted a bit more variety you could pop to the gelataria/delicatessen across the road, which offered plenty more delights at reasonable prices. It helped if you could speak basic italian at the deli, as I discovered on some occasions! The staff at the Domus Sessoriana were friendly and efficient and they also sold the Roma pass - which is well worth it at the new price of 23 euros. If you're looking for a bite to eat, we tried the Cipriani, which was nice enough, but ate far more at the restaurant on the corner behind the Cipriani, which I think was called the Restauranta Porto Corolla or something or other!!!! Incidentally, don't go to the Japanese restaurant on Via Filiberto as we found the food very overpriced and nothing to write home about.

Just returned from a stay at the Domus Sessoriana in Rome. Great location - we walked to San Clemente (don't miss this place), Colosseum, Forum, Capitol Museum, Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain - everywhere. REALLY fabulous restaurant right down the street "Cipriani" - just ask the man at the desk at the hotel. The hotel is clean and nice - but lots of walking to get to your room - some stairs and some elevators. The rooms are VERY SMALL and rustic but the bathrooms are large and plush! Also very loud - if anyone walks by your room it resonates through the whole place. The staff was very efficient , very nice - but we were told it was impossible to get water at 7pm and impossible to get another pillow at all. Beds extremely lumpy and hard. Probably would not stay here again.

This hotel is build in an old monastry. One of the wings is still prohibited for tourists and monks live here. The building is amazing and the service is great. You get welcomed like you are in a 5 star hotel! Our room was very tidy and quite big. On the roof is a terrace which looks out on the monks garden. When you look over there you feel like you just walked in the middle ages. For younger couples it might be a bit boring, because in the area where the hotel is located there is not much to do. Beside that the hotel is not that close to the inner city, so you have to walk a fair bit or catch public transport. But overall, this is a great place to stay at.

  • Liked — The building itself
  • Disliked — The atmosphere was a bit boring

Hotel was pleasantly surprising as I had heard that all Roman hotels were cramped and a rip off. I had read to ensure we requested a room on the upper floor as they are newer and much bigger than the others, which we did. Ceilings were vast, nice view, clean bathroom. Bed was very hard however, to the point where it effected sleep. Location was a little outside the inner city but close to the metro and not too far to walk either, maybe pleasant 20 minute walk. Breakfast adequate. Lovely rooftop deck with nice views and quiet place to relax. All in all, a good hotel which i would recommend.

  • Liked — Peaceful and clean
  • Disliked — Hard Beds
