My husband and I spent three nights in this hotel in August 2009. It is in a fantastic location, just a 10 minute walk from the Spanish steps and 2 minutes to the nearest subway stop.
The room was relatively small, but this wasn't a big deal considering most hotels in European cities are small by North American standards. The bathroom was equipped with modern fixtures and impeccably clean, so no complaints on that front. The bedsheets were also clean and crisp, but that's about where the cleanliness ended. The curtains were dirty and stained, the walls were dirty and stained, and the floors and room fixtures had seen better days. The blanket on the bed was thin and worn out (and with the air conditioning at sub zero temperatures, trust me, you need a decent blanket at night even though outside the hotel, it's infernally hot). I pretty much didn't want to touch anything else in the room besides the bathroom and the bedsheets UNDER the cover.
There is a lovely little restaurant on the top floor of the hotel with a patio, which was great for having a cappuccino in the mornings. There wasn't really any food available, though, except rolls and croissants with butter. (Maybe you could ask for food, but we didn't bother since we wanted to get out and explore more of Rome).
The staff were very friendly and helpful and most spoke at least a little bit of English so communication wasn't an issue. They offered maps and recommended places to visit and eat.
We had a nice time at the hotel, but considering the slightly run down condition of the rooms, I don't think I would stay here again. Although I would definitely recommend this neighbourhood for anyone wanting to explore Rome-- everything is close at hand.
