Myself and my friend stayed at the hotel Cinquantatre for a five day holiday this last September. Having never been to the etenal city before we were pretty much novices about what location would be best to stay in, but we struck gold with the hotel Cinquantatre. It's location is perfect! It's iterally seconds away from the metro (at the end of the road), a sight seeing bus, lovely cafes and restaurants and the beautiful Piazza Barberini. The trevi fountain is only about a 5-10 minute walk down the main road. We invested in a metro 7 day ticket and it was worth the little we paid for it as it took us all around the main sites of Rome within minutes.
The Hotel itself was really lovely. It was clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and basically just very pleasant to stay in. We were on the front face of the building and we had a mini balcony looking out onto the street. There was air conditioning in the room and it came with a television, a safe and a fridge with drinks and food inside. The bathroom was nice and the shower was good and strong!
The staff were polite and helpful especially one of the ladies who served the breakfasts. Speaking of breakfasts they were tasty. We got a sugared croissant, a couple of bread rolls each, soft cheese, jams, honey, special k type cereal, and a choice of teas, cappacinos, cafe latte and orange juice. It was enough to keep us going all day. The breakfast terrace was gorgeous to sit out on in a morning and it really started your day off on a nice note to eat your breatfast 'al fresco' and take in the lovely view.
My holiday to Rome was one of the best holidays I've ever had. The city itself is just breathtaking and it was only made more wonderful with having a nice place to stay in in a perfect location. I will definately use the Hotel Cinquantatre again next time I visit Rome...which please god will be soon!!!

This Hotel is small but clean. It is on a street off Piazza Barberini which is one of the main squares in Rome. Most things are within walking distance and if you do not want to walk, the Metro is 2 mintues from the Hotel on the Piazza. There is no Hotel lobby just a reception desk and the lift is very tiny but in a city like Rome where there is so much to see, all we did was showered and slept there so it was perfect. The room was small but as previously said both room and bathroom were clean. The shower door came off the hinges a couple of times so just bear this in mind if you get Room 203! Nice view of the street and our little balcony even had a small christmas tree on it. Very cute!!
Breakfast was a continental - yogurt, one choice of cereal, croissants & cheese/jam. Basic but ok for the price. We got a great deal on this hotel through Alpharooms.com
The only little gripe I would have with this hotel is the disinterested staff. Sometimes they did not even look at you as they handed you the key and I dont think that a simple hello greeting is too much to ask but it was not forthcoming unless we initiated it. Maybe they were just not happy to be working over the New Year so I will give them the benefit of the doubt!!!
Next time in Rome we will probably stay at this Hotel again based on its location.

I travelled to Rome in July and had stayed 4 nites at Cinquantatre. I had selected this over a couple of other hotels because of its proximity to the metro station.

It is good value (EUR 100/nite incl.taxes) for breakfast and a good location. The Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps are a 10 minute stroll away, so you would not have problems with restaurants.

The breakfast is served on the balcony of the top floor which is very nice to start the day off. They serve a basket of bread (crossiants, soft rolls) with preserves and nutella *yummy*, juice and coffee/tea.

Upon check in we were served by Nemo (I think that was his name!) which was very friendly and helpful in pointing out the sights and had offered to book a guided tour of the Vatican Museum/St. Peter's. I gave that a miss at EUR 55/pax. Subsequently there were a number of surly faces manning the check in desk, especially at night.

The room and ensuite were clean. We got room 203 which was facing the road but not too much noise. Did not really spend much time in the room anyway as there are too many things to do in Rome!

we are just back from a 3 night stay in cinquantatre, rome
we loved rome, deffinatly the most romantic city in the world
the hotel is just ok, the room we had was very small at the back of the hotel with no balcony when we asked for a room with a balcony we were told that the room was even smaller, i don't see how there was only the bed in the room.
the Bathroom was the best part and very clean.
i think this hotel is a bit more faulty towers, we asked for an Iron and iorning board and they arrived with no board,!!! trying to iron clothes on the floor is not easy.
our stay would have been fine if it had not been for check out, we were leaving early around 6.30am and when we tried to pay with Cash they had no change and were not even slightly bothered about how we would get our change, they sent my husband around to a shop that was closed, in the end my husband had to walk 15 mins to find a shop that was open to get change. i feel that if they allow people to pay with cash then they should keep a certain amount of cash there, we were owed 45 euro and there was no way i was leaving that with them, i think that's what they were hoping.
the hotel is fine but just fine, you get what you pay for!!
however the location was excellent and i would stay in this area again. rome is magical.

It was my first time in Rome and found the hotel cinquantatre the perfect location, central for most things. Room was basic but very clean and good value for money. Staff were helpful and pleasant.
