I booked this hotel with high hopes for a nice romantic weekend away and I was left very disappointed.

Firstly, the staff were totally uninterested and bordering on rude on check-in. They failed even to mention at all that the pool and roof bar were closed, which was very annoying as this was one of the main reasons I booked it. Eventually they gave the excuse that it was down to the weather but this is total rubbish as the building works had been going on for a while.

Secondly, the room itself was well below average for a hotel of this price. It was small and contrary to their website had no view at all. Again, when I queried this they informed me that the hotel was full and it was tough luck. This was totally untrue as was made pretty obvious by just walking around it.

Also, twice I ordered room service, once it took over an hour to arrive and the other never arrived at all with no explanation!

I did complain about my stay and to be fair the travel agent did give me a partial refund but the hotel itself refused to apologise and offered me a discount on a future stay - something I won't be taking up!

On the plus side, the entrance to the hotel is nice and the location is ok - but is just a bit too far to walk to most attractions.

Overall, even if you get a good deal on the net, I would avoid this hotel. There are far better than this in Rome for the money.

The hotel is definitely a center point, the evening we arrived, there was a promotion of the Sex in the City movie and a new Mercedes GLK in front of the property. Lots of tuxedos and splendor to impress. Front office staff however spoiled the entire experience, seemed cold and so busy with the PC keyboard. The valet services and bell boy were welcoming though. The concierge was a top professional who replied to all our questions, some of which quite long. We were given a room, that was far from the lifts and although large enough, I couldn't help disappointment for the rate of EUR 400 per night plus. I won't touch the topic of the window view at all, although I probably should. The bathroom was great, amenities were generous. Breakfast was served in a sort of darkish saloon, service and menu left a bit to be desired for this class of hotel. Nevertheless the hotel is very clean, corridors are spacious and bright, lobby is grand, the lifts are quick and nice. Location is excellent, within a minute from Termini Station and 10 minutes walk from most interesting shopping spots. Perhaps I expected too much from the hotel itself.

A very attractive hotel in a great position within the city walls, the reception is of a very high standard and the staff were very friendly and willing to help.

The rooms are a good size with double hieght cielings and a good standard of furnishing, the carpet was a little tired and could do with replacing. The bathroom facilities were of a good standard and very clean at all times.

The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast, the standard was exellent on ever visit and left me needing no lunch on the 4 days we spent at the hotel.

Good Value for money and a great base for a trip to Rome.

  • Liked — The double hieght ceilings and size of the rooms.
  • Disliked — Slightly tired furnishings in some areas.

We arrived a day early and they gave us a room with no problem. All the staff was on top of things and helped us with every need we had. The only problem - we loved sleeping with our windows open in Venice and Florence. When we went to open the window, we closed it immediately - directly above the dumpsters with complete smell and view of other hotel backs.

An unexpected perk was that both the Body of Lies and Quantum of Solace had their Rome premiere next to the Exedra. A chance of a life time to just walk outside the hotel and see all the hype.

  • Liked — comfort
  • Disliked — dumpster outside the bedrrom window

The hotel was nice, but lacked personality. The room was big and clean; however the rugs were worn. The bed was comfortable and the water was hot - two very important things for me! The staff was polite, but not overly helpful. I am not sure if it was the language barrier or just their attitude, but they didn't have many helpful recommendations. The rooftop bar is closed for renovations. The downstairs bar is expensive and lacks any real appeal - although the service was good. The hotel is located right next to a subway stop, which is helpful if you plan to use the subway. The main train station,Termini, is within walking distance. If you want to be in the heart of Rome though I would recommend staying near the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps or Piazza del Popolo. We didnt eat at the hotel restaurant, so I cant speak for the food. I liked Rome, but 6 days was too much. If I had to do it over, I would have split up the trip between Rome and Florence (perhaps a day or two in Umbria or Tuscany).

  • Liked — Big rooms - nice bathroom
  • Disliked — lacked personality
