I should have listened to other reviewers. I was captivated by the external appearance of the Exedra - it looks wonderful from the outside on the internet and in reality. My husband and I liked the location and used the metro from time to time, which was located near the front of the hotel. However, from the moment we arrived at the front desk it became apparent the hotel lacked personality. I have never encountered such an indifferent reception person as the chap who dealt with our booking. No smile, no welcome, just a curt 'next' and that was as warm as it got. Questions were answered with a minimal response and insufficient information. When we arrived in our room I went straight to the window to see if we had the same view as some of the Trip Advisor posters and sure enough I was confronted by a view of the airconditioning system. I immediately phoned the front desk and asked for a room with a better view and was told that we had already been upgraded and it would cost more to have a view. So be warned, if you want to look at anything other than a wall or an airconditioning system, you will have to pay extra. Obviously I wasn't as forceful as other posters, so we stayed where we were. In fact, we weren't in our room long enough to look out the window anyway. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom a good size - it was all very nice, however, try as we might it was almost impossible to find any information on amenities in the hotel, restaurants, bars or the pool area. My husband asked reception for a mini bar price list, which after a three night stay, failed to eventuate. We came to the conclusion their policy must be - if you have to ask, you can't afford it. We stayed at the Exedra prior to an organised tour around Italy and when we moved to the Bernini Bristol which was part of our tour, the reception was totally different. The staff were lovely, showed us to our room, couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. The rooms at the Bernini were not as large as the Exedra, but I would trade a large room in a heartless, cold hotel for a smaller room in a place with warmth and personality any day.
