I travel for work, so as a result stay in a lot of Hotels and this is without doubt the worst hotel I have EVER stayed in.

Three points:
- The rooms are awful/dirty (nothing like the photos at all)
- The price is completely unreasonable given the location/service levels/overall feel
- Service was poor

Headline:
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IS FAR WORSE THAN STAYING AT HOME.

Hey after reading all the reviews I was really nervous about our one night stay - as this was our last night in Rome before boarding our ship and I wanted it to be nice for my family (4 of us) We were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful room that they gave us - really - great bathroom, beautiful bed and sofa bed, tastefully decorated in European style!!! We had two balconies one off the bath the other off the bedroom. The marble floors and walls were all new. Towels and bedding were bright and looked new. Less than $200 a night and that included breakfast - which was nicely laid out we thought for continental. Don't know about the other rooms at this hotel but if you get the quad you won't be disappointed. We liked the fact that it wasn't a modern hotel, as we stayed at Holiday the first two nights and this was more what we expected to see in Europe. We thought the staff was nice and helpful. They called us a taxi, gave us directions and smiled back when we cracked a joke. Get directions on what bus to take to the hotel from Termini as this will save you a walk. We'd stay there again.

I booked the hotel via a web site that offered an excellent deal. Indeed, for a 2 star hotel in Rome it was cheap - 90 Euro a night. But the experience was horrible. The first two floors of the hotel are completely run down. We were told that the other three floors are renovated but although we asked to get a room on another floor we were refused. The excuse was that we paid for a "standard room". As a matter of fact it was definitely substandard. Although the hotel web site states that there is wi-fi service, the receptionists refused to give us the password. Each one gave a diffrent reason for the refusal. The bathrooms (we spent one night in one room and two nights in another room)were in bad shape -- mold, no bath curtain, drainage problems, no ventilation etc. Breakfast is served in the basement in a hall that saw better days. Bad cofee, bad "fresh" juice, low quality yogurt and croissants. If you have no other option and you stay in this hotel, you are advised at least to take your coffee in one of the bars outside.

  • Liked — Price, close to Vila Borgheses
  • Disliked — Bathroom, breakfast,

July 2008
We have just returned from a months holiday in Europe and unfortunately we stayed at the Principessa Tea. Our first room was very run down, dirty walls and mouldy bathroom. We pointed out that this room was not similar to photos and descriptions we had viewed in travel brochures. We were offered a new room which had just been renovated which was nice but no air con so room temp was constantly about 30 celcius. This room cost a further 30 euro but at least it was clean. Breakfast very poor. We were not expecting luxury but rooms should be clean etc.

We did not voluntarily stay here, were moved to this hotel (after a very difficult process finding our reserved Hotel Ferraro) due to a "lack of hot water".

Our room was filthy, the pillows were gross, and the bedspread was old and disgusting. We stashed it away so we wouldn't accidently put anything down on it.

Principessa Tea Hotel is currently undergoing renovations. There is currently scaffold up on the NE side of the building (where our room was), and the works gets started at 7:00am. So you can't leave your windows open at all for fear of an easy break-in. Maybe it will be nice when they are finished, but it is currently very run down.

This hotel is a good walking distance from major sites and a Metro stop (it is closest to Borghese Gardens, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, but very far from the Forum, Colloseum, etc.).

They do have a large breakfast buffet included, which was by far the best amenity the hotel offers.

The front desk staff was less than friendly. We were happy to leave after 2 nights, and do not recomment this hotel.
