Shocked to Find the Fattori Suite I Had Booking Contract For Occupied By Others

It is with sadness that I will not be able to recommend this rental as I have done in the past.

I booked the Fattori Suite as a returning guest. Upon arrival I excitedly talked about staying there again as I had enjoyed that suite so much. The employee didn't mention anything to me about a change in rooms until we reached the door of another, smaller suite.

When you go on the rental's website you have a choice of 6 apartments/suites labelled by their name, size and price.
You click the booking button beside the room you want to reserve.
You are sent a booking voucher/contract with the named suite on it, under:accommodation chosen, with the size listed, as well.

I was shown to the El Greco, (a smaller, noiser room) and told that this was where I'd be staying.

I refused. I had a contract for the Fattori suite and they were breaking the contract. If I had broke the contract they would be charging my credit card.

We did come to a compromise after much argument, but I am no longer recommending this rental property to others, as I have done in the past because of the manner in which I was treated by the manager on this trip.

  • Liked — nothing
  • Disliked — The rudeness of the manager telling me to shut up and listen and not providing the accommodation I had the booking confirmation for.

Management response from internazionaledomus, proprietario
(Management representative)
Oct 28, 2009
Unfortunately, we made a mistake on our reservation schedule and overbooked the Fattori suite. We apologized for our mistake and proposed El Greco suite. This room has the same size, price and location as Fattori suite. In fact, it is located on the same side of the third floor corridor, and overlooks the same street (vicolo del Bottino) as Fattori suite. We only have 2 rooms on this side of the corridor and it is impossible to say that one is more noisy than the other. The client refused our relocation and kept shoutinting in the corridor. We then apologized again and asked the client to speak quietly as other guests could be sleeping. We then proposed a 65 square meters apartment overlooking the Spanish steps with bedroom, livingroom, kitchen and bathroom at the same rate as the Fattori suite originally booked. The client accepted our relocation.

Rome is hot and crowded in June! The Hotel Domus was in a perfect location, right next to the Spanish Steps. Even though the steps are bustling morning, noon and night. Inside this quaint, clean hotel, we found a quiet refuge to rest and re-group after a busy day.

The staff always asked to help us find great dinner places that suited our tastes plus asked for our feedback afterwards to ensure their suggestions met our needs. We had a triple room that was comfortable and spacious for under 250E.

The location has less motor traffic than the forum area, so we liked that we could depart the hotel, find our way to Trevi or the Pantheon or other great piazzas without walking our feet off or getting run over crossing too many busy roads.

Highly recommend this charming hotel.

  • Liked — LOCATION AND SERVICE FOR A GOOD VALUE
  • Disliked — MORE COFFEE AND MILK-CREAM WERE NEEDED IN THE ROOMS, ICE WOULD BE A REAL PLUS!

Our group of three stayed at the Internazionale Domus in Rome for two nights, 1 night at the beginning of our holiday in Italy and 1 night at the end. The hotel is in a great location about half a city block from the Spanish Steps. We had two different "triple" rooms and they were both tastefully furnished and clean. Given the area the hotel is surprisingly quiet. Service at the hotel was excellent ... we visited 3 restaurants on the advice of the staff and each one was great. The hotel organized having a driver pick us up at the airport and take us back to the airport for our return flight. The hotel also reserved a tour with a driver around Rome which was terrific especially considering our short stay in the city. We loved the hotel and staff and thought it was very good value ... highly recommended.

After sampling many hotel rooms and apartments in Rome, finally we have a solution to the overpriced Rome hotel scene. There is a huge disparity in quality between the fashionable five star hotels and the more affordable small hotels. The Internazionale Domus and sister property, Relais Pierret ,located in the same building, deliver a spacious, comfortable and attractive room or apartment at a reasonable price. The staff is warm and welcoming and eager to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. We were barely concious of other guests in the building and felt like Roman residents returning home to our fashionable address next to the Piazza de Spagna. While this arrangement lacks many services of a large hotel, it more than compensates with it's charm and intimate feel. I don't think you will be disappointed!

I selfishishly don't want to share this gem in Rome; however, the Internazionale Domus deserves a great review. After having researched and seen many, many hotels and apartments, I have found THE place to stay in Rome.
My husband and I, and our closest friends, who have spent alot of time in Rome, just spent a week at the Internazionale Domus. I felt as though we had our own palazzo in Rome. The location is perfect. The rooms are beautiful. The bathrooms are lovely. The view is fantastic. The staff, including Giulia, Elisabetta and Daniele, are darling and could not be more accommodating.
It's perfect for all ages. I look forward to returning soon with our teenaged daughters, and on another trip with my siblings and our mother.
