Hotel San Paolo Roma Roma via Panisperna 95 00184 Roma, Italy Telephone Number: 06/4745213-06/4745217. My wife and I spent 3 nights at the above hotel. It was a small Pensione, and we stayed in one of the shared bath double rooms. Like many small hotels in Rome, it is up a few sets of stairs, and seems like a dorm if you have a shared bathroom. The shared bath double room we had was simple small and very clean with a sink right in the room and a nice new tiled floor. The three-shared bathrooms were also modern and very clean with ample hot water. This place was perfect with prices from 60-100 Euros it was a real bargain for those looking for clean no frills lodging. Several families were also at this hotel and they seemed happy. The only complaint was that the web site said all the rooms had a fan, and they did not. Perhaps these are available in July or August, but despite the web site they said they did not have them. Like Romans do, we left our window facing the back street open and slept well, only shutting the windows when the birds started chirping. The hotel is located near the train station near Santa Mario Maggiore Basilica and just a few blocks away from all of ancient Rome and the handy #70 bus line on a quiet street. We walked from Termini. Ask for a room in the back if you want a very quiet stay. If you want a private bathroom, ask for one of these larger rooms. The windows were double paned with handy metal doors to block out the sun and provide an extra layer of sound protection. This is really a Pensione, but it was a great cheap pick for our Roman holiday near everything.
