Although I doubt any non-Italian speakers will book into this hotel, I wanted to make sure if you do there is no illusion. This was no doubt once a lovely hotel and the location off the via del corso is superb but it is now well past it's best. We entered a room on a the third floor and was hit by a stale repellent smell, which my husband classed as "armpit". The rooms was filthy - greasy yellow netting hung limply at the window, stained sofa and worktop, cracked bathroom. We didn't know where to put our clothes down safely. The lamp switches were brown with dirt and greasy. In the end we slept on top of the bed not wanting to venture under the sheets. There was no aircon, although we did have to wash our hands after pressing the buttons in a vain attempt to get it to function (it was also dirty). We stayed because friends were staying in the same hotel and it was just for one night. This place is vastly overpriced - I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Hello.
I stayed at Hotel del Corso in Rome after a cruise in May 2007. Here is my honest feedback:
Pros
-very friendly staff
-great breakfast/cute dining room
-beautiful beautiful beautiful
-best possible location for the price, you are close to everything
-Ease of check in and check out
-Fabulous accomodations, bed great
-The front desk person checked the flight departure time for us on his computer!
Cons
-AC didn't work, we couldn't get anyone to fix it, we opened up the window which worked fine so we didn't make a big deal about the AC not working. At night though, it was sooooooooooooo loud outside having the window open. Couldn't close the window because it was way too hot in the room. If I would have had ear plugs it would have been perfect.
-Safe didn't work, tried to get someone to come up and fix it but nobody did. That was ok though, the nice guy at the front desk put our passports in his safe while we were out of the room.

Booked this hotel directly through them because of good reviews and the web site. Upon entering the hotel, you think it will live up to its web site. We had booked 6 nights, requested a back courtyard room and were told “this is one of our best rooms.” We were handed a room key that was connected to a piece of cardboard wrapped in duct tape – that was the first clue.

The room was large, yes, but filthy – wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in the bedding, the carpet very stained and dirty (with what appeared to be a large stain where a dog lifted its leg on the corner of the bed), the mattress was like sleeping on a noisy box spring, the bathroom spattered with mold that smelled and some ancient shower hardware that looked like an old fashioned telephone receiver that you had to hold to bathe yourself. In short, disgusting.

As far as amenities, this hotel has very little – no ice, no internet, no laundry service. Their breakfast is very small and very stale and old (the juice had a scum floating on the top that was more than simply pulp and untouched the three days we were there). We saw a couple of fellow travelers our first morning and asked how their room was – the expression on the woman’s face said it all. She said they had a barking dog next to them the previous couple of nights and that their room was also in bad shape. They were leaving that day and glad to be gone.

The location (4 blocks from the Spanish Steps) is probably why such a horrible hotel was priced at 150 Euros per night, but it was not worth it. There was little in the way of places to eat or go at night (since it is mostly stores in the area), thus rendering the location useless.

We stayed here with another couple and had a great few days in Rome because the location was really central to everything. The room was small however, even though we had reserved a suite for all 4 of us. It probably isnt any different though from other hotels in its class in Rome -- we weren't expecting a huge American hotel. Rome is pretty pricey, so for $300 a night we were paying for the location. They had a nice breakfast in the morning and the staff was super helpful and very nice.

We were pleasantly surpised with the excellent location of this hotel. It is right in the centre of rome - within walking distance to the trevi fountain, spanish steps, piazza del poppolo, tomb of th eunknown solider, the patheon etc etc !!

The staff here were great, all spoke good english, were exceptionally friendly and courteous alongside being approachable. They answered all our emails prior to us checking in straight away and answered all our questions.

The room we stayed in was smallish and without a shower which was a pity as it took stone ages to run the bath every day. However, the decor was very periodic and had all the normal amnenities. It was cleaned by the maid every single day - fresh sheets, clean towels etc etc.

Best thing about the room was the mini bar and satalite tv in english! The worst has to be the very thin pillows and noisy air conditioning. Also our view was of a brick wall and you could hear everything goign on in the next bedroom as if the guests were in our room, for example- you could hear the guests in the next room even opening a coke can!

The breakfast was average continental european (you dont get your bacon and eggs here mate!) but the staff were excellent.

Would recommend this hotel to others as the location and staff make it really really great!!
