Booked this hotel directly through them because of good reviews and the web site. Upon entering the hotel, you think it will live up to its web site. We had booked 6 nights, requested a back courtyard room and were told “this is one of our best rooms.” We were handed a room key that was connected to a piece of cardboard wrapped in duct tape – that was the first clue.
The room was large, yes, but filthy – wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in the bedding, the carpet very stained and dirty (with what appeared to be a large stain where a dog lifted its leg on the corner of the bed), the mattress was like sleeping on a noisy box spring, the bathroom spattered with mold that smelled and some ancient shower hardware that looked like an old fashioned telephone receiver that you had to hold to bathe yourself. In short, disgusting.
As far as amenities, this hotel has very little – no ice, no internet, no laundry service. Their breakfast is very small and very stale and old (the juice had a scum floating on the top that was more than simply pulp and untouched the three days we were there). We saw a couple of fellow travelers our first morning and asked how their room was – the expression on the woman’s face said it all. She said they had a barking dog next to them the previous couple of nights and that their room was also in bad shape. They were leaving that day and glad to be gone.
The location (4 blocks from the Spanish Steps) is probably why such a horrible hotel was priced at 150 Euros per night, but it was not worth it. There was little in the way of places to eat or go at night (since it is mostly stores in the area), thus rendering the location useless.
