Four of us signed up for a european destinations tour and we regrettably did not map this hotel out. It is very misleading that this hotel is "in Rome" We actually have photos that we took from the taxi saying that we were no longer in Rome and had signs heading towards Florence, I'm not kidding. It was actually the MOST expensive part of our trip because taking the taxi costs around 40 bucks US to get to the tourist sites, ie (roman forum, colosseum). The hotel said it would cost 15 euros, but that only takes you to the upper most part of Rome where you would then have to take the subway. Their shuttle is not frequent at all and maybe if they ran it hourly, it would be okay, but in the morning, you have a three hour gap between shuttle runs. It's also misleading because one shuttle run will take you to the tip of the city and the other shuttle one will take you to a train station that is half an hour away form the city so it goes: 1)shuttle from hotel to random station where you have to wait 10-20 minutes 2)train station to city subway 3)subway to city destination it took us about an hour, which basically wastes your whole morning. we were pretty bitter especially since our other two hotels on the trip (gorizia in venice and excutive in florence were centrally located....though executive was by far the nicest of the 3. gorizia was a bit dated). i've lived in SF, philly, and london and this was by far one of the bigger pains in the butt in terms of navigation, especially bc most people did not tell us much. this hotel is more for italians who are having a conference in rome and have their own shuttle bus, its not good at all for tourists. btw, this hotel has nothing around it except small houses and a grocery that is even less posh than an ALDI. you really are out in the sticks.

  • Liked — the lobby was spacious, but the rooms were not
  • Disliked — location was horrible, you might as well pay some extra money for a place actually close to rome

Our Party consisted of 8 rugby players over for the Italy V Ireland 6 nations game. On our arrival the manager rushed out to stop us unloading the minibus and told that due to an unforseeable event our rooms were not going to be available. He then informed that we would be happy with the alternative he had selected for us.
We were taken to a 350 euro a night castle and picked the next day by two taxis that he hotel laid on.
Outstanding recovery from what could have been a disaster.
Rest of the trip was great with the hotel staff friendly and efficient.

Roma Domina Cassia:

This hotel is very nice and clean. The workers were great. However, it is WAY too far from the center of Rome. Unless you do want to get away from the center, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel. The room and bathroom was very clean and overall, a good hotel.

Positives first: the hotel is clean, the facilities are modern.
The bathrooms have beautiful marble and nice fluffy towels.
The breakfast is good.

Negatives:
it shouldn't be considered as in "Rome".
We left our central hotel to go there to attend a wedding nearby, it took nearly 1.5 hours from Termini station to get metro, then train and then taxi. Friends got a taxi from Termini for €30. If you were en route somewhere and had a car it would be fine but it is simply too far to sightsee in Rome every day.

We specifically booked a non smoking room. Our room stank of smoke and had ashtrays. I asked to change room and was told that the hotel was full and that it would not be possible and to ask again tomorrow. I asked the reception guy to mention it to his colleagues and he gave me a shrug. In the end I didn't bother mentioning it as we decided to leave.

We had no hot water at all for both nights and days that we stayed there. Neither did any of our friends who also stayed there. One friend complained and was told that the hotel was completely full and what did she expect!

We checked out a day earlier and happily went back to Domus Praetoria near Termini.

  • Liked — clean new
  • Disliked — location, no hot water, rude staff
  • Tips/Secrets: — Avoid unless you have a car and like cold showers!

I stayed for 4 nights in May of 2005. Booked thru Expedia and photos are realistic. Very nice and clean rooms, bathroom, good AC. Facility in general is well-maintained. Breakfast buffet was excellent and very complete (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc). Hotel staff was very nice and always willing to help. Although far from Rome, hotel offers a free shuttle to nearest train station which is 15 minutes away from St. Peter. Shuttle also offers daily trips into central Rome back and forth, you just need to book as seating is limited. Shuttle is comfortable and with AC. If coming back late at night, I suggest a taxi. I took bus back and it took too long. Local grocery store accross the street with local/low prices. You will be surprised how much food you can get for 10 euros. I would definitely stay again.
