My husband and I just came back from a lovely week-end in Rome and couldn’t have been more pleased that we picked Daphne Trevi.

At first, the outside of the building is a little surprising, especially since there is absolutely no indication that there is a B&B in the building (make sure that you know the exact street number otherwise, you wont find the place!).

The standard rooms are just about the right size, beautifully decorated and the bathroom is very neat with stylish italian tiles. Since the street is extremely narrow, it is not overflooded with natural daylight (even though we were on the 3rd floor). When you leave the building at night, you'd get surprised at how noisy the street is since while in the room, you don’t hear a thing !!!

The big ++ :
Perfect location
Very friendly and helpful staff
Very good breakfast
A laptop with internet access is left in the breakfast room for the guests' usage 24/7

A small -- : Although we did not mind not having a television in the room, any kind of sound system would have been highly appreciated. I would def recommend taking an ipod + speakers with you if you feel the same.

This is definitely not your standard hotel so if you're looking for 24/7 concierge + room service, this wont be the place for you. But if you are looking for a small pied-a-terre with an at-home feeling on a budget (thanks to the 10% discount for paying cash, the room cost us only 126 EUR a night), Daphne Trevi is the place for you !

We had a great experience at the Daphne Inn. The location was great and extremely convenient for walking or hoping on the Metro. We walked to the Trevi Fountain several nights just to relax and because it was so close.

The room was comfortable, the bath updated and clean, the breakfast was plentiful and served with charm and the wi-fi was free and easily available. They give you a local cell phone to use with their contact numbers pre-programed.

The best part of the experience was the friendly and helpful staff. They gave great directions, advice and tips. They booked the Papal Audience, Museum visits that were otherwise sold out, and airport shuttle to and from the hotel.

They were easy to communicate with via email while booking, before our visit and afterward.

A good location, very comfortable room and a good breakfast. However the best thing about the Daphne Inn was the friendly, informative and helpful service provided by the Staff, who all spoke excellent English. Their tour and restaurant recommendations were spot on and they went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. They booked cars, tours and restaurants for us and all the arrangements worked as requested. They made our first stay in Rome memorable.

This place is quite simply disappointing. We first saw it when we were staying in Sicily in a book about design hotels in Italy. No idea why it was included.

The 'palazzo' building where the B&B is located is a scruffy, residential block on a small back street. Our room, described as a suite, on the first floor was clean and basic. When we arrived we found a sandwich left in the fridge in the living room. The shower room was tiny. Toiletries were never replaced when they had been used up. The living room and bedroom had hardly any natural light. There was a plastic, mock leather sofa in the living room and the colour scheme was depressingly beige. Our breakfast took an hour to arrive on the morning we left.

This was certainly not the top notch, elegant, urban B&B with impeccable service described by the website. Neither was it affordable.

We stayed for three days, at 280 euros a night . While in Rome we also stayed at the St George, a spa hotel booked via expedia which was luxurious, contemporary, spotlessly clean, with a spa and cocktail terrace and it cost less money per night.

Since we returned from our holiday, we have been emailing Daphne to see if they would offer a partial refund, but the email has been bouncing - we wonder why!

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Rome, don't wast your euros at Daphne. Its not worth it and you will be disappointed.
