This place is quite simply disappointing. We first saw it when we were staying in Sicily in a book about design hotels in Italy. No idea why it was included.
The 'palazzo' building where the B&B is located is a scruffy, residential block on a small back street. Our room, described as a suite, on the first floor was clean and basic. When we arrived we found a sandwich left in the fridge in the living room. The shower room was tiny. Toiletries were never replaced when they had been used up. The living room and bedroom had hardly any natural light. There was a plastic, mock leather sofa in the living room and the colour scheme was depressingly beige. Our breakfast took an hour to arrive on the morning we left.
This was certainly not the top notch, elegant, urban B&B with impeccable service described by the website. Neither was it affordable.
We stayed for three days, at 280 euros a night . While in Rome we also stayed at the St George, a spa hotel booked via expedia which was luxurious, contemporary, spotlessly clean, with a spa and cocktail terrace and it cost less money per night.
Since we returned from our holiday, we have been emailing Daphne to see if they would offer a partial refund, but the email has been bouncing - we wonder why!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Rome, don't wast your euros at Daphne. Its not worth it and you will be disappointed.
