We stayed in this hotel for a weekend break in August. On first glance the hotel looks great. It is located on a nice quiet side street ,but close enough to walk to some of the central sights (Trevi Fountain etc). The lobby looks very high spec and the lounge is well turned out too. We found the staff very helpful on both check-in and check-out. The main problem with this hotel is that as soon as you leave the lobby and exit the lift, you appear to have been transported to a low-end budget hotel. The corridors on the room level look like something from an bog standard 3 star hotel, clean and tidy but not exactly high end. The room itself was not better. The design was basic too say the least. Cheap wooden wardrobes and headboards look completely out of place. Our room has two drawers in the wardrobe that were broken and could not be used while the shower had loose tiles. The rooms however were not the biggest problem we had during our stay. Breakfast (which at least was included in our rate of c.€250 per night) is not worth paying for and I would recommend getting a rate without it included. On both mornings it was cold (scrambled eggs, bacon etc) and soggy. The bread was stale and the toaster didn't work. The other odd thing about this hotel is that fact that we barely saw another guest during our entire stay. I cannot comment on the roof top bar or other facilities as we did not use these. On the whole, if you are looking for a decent hotel in a good location this hotel might be for you, but it is not worth the rates charged and is not high end.....or even boutique level.....very very average.

Well, its in an ideal location. First time in rome and we were able to easily to get to the hotel from the airport. Dont listen to the revies about teh street noise. First off, if you request a window that faces the "back" you have a view of the courtyard... why would you request a few of concrete and a chess set (?) when in rome. it wasn't that loud, chances are your going to be sleeping with the window closed and the AC on, so its a great luxuray to have the option to open the window and a get a few of the city. ITS NOT AS FUNKY AS IT LOOKS. the hubby and I are from NYC, have frequented the boutique hotels and this is not what we were expecting. The furnture was cheap, they have a "loubge room" with these chess tables, but no chess peices to play (ummmm ok). The rooms are execatly what you see on the webiste. I personally dont care too much about space, your in a hotel, your not going to be hosting a dinner party (at least thats our view on things) the furntiure is cheap, there was dust, caprets were dirty, the bathroom was a nice size, it was clean, THEY DONT HAVE CONDITIONER. We booked 3 nights for the price of 2 on expedia (we ended up paying about $300 a nite). THE ROOF TOP BAR was dead. nothing going on in the hotel, and be prepared to droup $25 euros for a cocktail. The positives? its in a great location, near everything. We went to this local retsurant called CANTORI CANTORINI. were big foodies and this was bar far the best meal we have evr had. its a hole in the wall but the past dished weve ever had. no tourists all locals. rome hotels within this price range tend to be somewhat outdated, so i think the hotel is one of the better hotels. we would recommend the hotel if you got it under $250 a nite.

We didn't intend to stay in this hotel, but when we got to Rome we found our hotel had closed down so expedia put us here instead. First impressions were very good, the red and black lobby is very striking and the desk staff were friendly enough and upgraded our room to a king.

The room looked good (I especially liked the arched ceiling) and was a decent size for a city hotel with massive mirrored wardrobes and loads of drawer space. It was also extremely quiet with regard to any street noise, but there was some kind of air vent in the corridor opposite which was pretty loud at night.

However, on close inspection, the room was pretty shabby. There was a big rip in the carpet, marks on the wall and damage to the furniture. The bedroom was very clean but there was black mould around the bottom of the shower.

The bed was pretty hard and was two small beds pushed together that were slightly different heights so there was a big ridge in the middle!

Overall we were happy with the hotel but if we'd paid the going rate i have to say I'd be furious! Based on the room there is no way this is a 5 star hotel, i have stayed in 3 star hotels that were just as nice.

The location is excellent though!

Well, it is a nice masculine hotel, I will give it that. But for most of our 3 day stay, there was no doorman. It rained a lot, and they handed us a cheap umbrella that the vendors sell on the street. It broke 20 minutes later.

For the price paid...over $500 US a night, I would expect service. But the price looks like you pay for the design and decor. You have to pay for internet, breakfast was $22 EU and on our honeymoon, they put us near the generator on the FIRST FLOOR.

Am I expecting too much for my dollar? If i were to go to Rome again, I would stay at the Hotel de Russie. Its a little bit more, but there is a HUGE difference in service.
