After arriving in Rome - this hotel FAILED to schedule our airport transfer which resulted in a VERY scary cab ride into the city costing 80 Euros per car. After some HOSTILE negotiations the concierge was assaulted by the cab driver. The lift in the hotel takes only one guest and suitcase at at time. When you arrive at Reception it is like walking into the pound. The "Quad Rooms" were nothing like is advertised on the website. We were two parties of four adults and we were placed in a room no bigger than a standard bathroom with one VERY OLD STAINED double bed and a set of BUNK BEDS!!! The bathroom was nothing less than septic with mould and scum present all over the bath recess. We were almost tempted to wear thongs in the shower. The shower head was broken and we had to squat to get under it while trying to juggle shampoo and conditioner bottles as there was no shelving in the recess for anything. The toilets were susceptible to not flushing , there were no tea and coffee making facilities and at the risk of getting hospitalised with food poisoning, we refused to eat the stale cereal, warm milk, rotting fruit and room temperature ham (the six pieces that were on display) for breakfast. The reception staff were LESS than helpful and extremely rude and I was called a liar after a dispute about the room size. This absolutely ruined a part of our European holiday. Can I please have that night of my life back???? Warning to future travellers - DO NOT GO THERE - STAY WELL AWAY!!!!!!

Marco Polo was the worst experience on our trip. The bed covers smelled of smoke and stench. There were moulds in the bathrooms, breakfast was very average. We paid too much for what we received in terms of quality or service.

The hotel location was good and convienent. I would never go back there.

I stayed during the height of summer and was REALLY happy they have air conditioning!

The location around the hotel is quite busy with walkers-by, and it's really close to the main Roman train station, Termini.

Don't expect a stellar room. It's good deal for the money, though.

My family of four stayed at the Marco Polo during Thanksgiving Week of 2008. The hotel is a great value, inexpensive, clean, next to many affordable but tasty restaurants. But the best thing about this hotel is the friendly service of the hotel staff. They were very helpful in discussing potential trip improvements and weather adjustments during the week. They looked up information on the internet for us and they recommended good restaurants all week including making reservations for us. The rooms were adequate size for Europe and we had a private bath. The breakfast area was adequate and the food made for a good jump start in the morning. The hotel is located on the third floor with both stairs and small elevator access. The rooms were well heated when needed to be. The location is one block from the Train Termini and is within walking distance of many good local restaurants. It is located on the better side of the Termini. Cabs were about 10 Euros just about to any spot in Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Marco Polo and our time visiting fabulous Rome. Overall, a great value hotel.
