Me and my wife stayed at the B&B in Rome and let me tell you it was not like the website! We got the transfer for 50E.The car smelled like old dogs and if you got there you'll find out why. They said on the site that Gino and Miriam speak English. They dont! You are told on the site that you will have breakfast in a warm spot inside with music.Instead you are not permitted in the house and you have breakfast in the cold ouside on plastic chairs and instant coffe and a day old danish. You are not close to anything. Its a 40 minute busride to center. The room was a DUMP!The hospitality a joke! The price a rip-off.Everybody we met at the B&B that were guests were nice people who felt that we were all taking for a ride.Good luck if you decide to stay there.

This was the first stop on our 2 week trip and we would not reccommend this B&B. We inquired about their pick up service but did not request it...But there was our name when we came out of the airport so we felt we had to go.50E and we didn't know these were the owners so had to get $ right there and pay the exchange rate - as there were no ATM's around. (nothing was said like you can pay later with your bill) The room was ok - bath was clean - we did not stay for breakfast as it was soooo far out that we had to get the bus. later at night we had to wait 1 hr to catch the bus back....very bad after 11 hrs sighseeing. This place is way out there - not convenient at all.

We chose this b&b from its descriptions on the internet- it sounded modern, quiet and conveniently located (if slightly out of the centre of Rome itself). Boy, were we disappointed on arrival!!

We had the suite which comprised 2 rooms and a small kitchen and bathroom (shower only). The beds were ancient with very thin matresses-we woke up with backache every morning. (This is a particularly bad thing in Rome where a comfortable and restful night's sleep is crucial because you do a serious amount of walking every day.)

The toilet was built 2cm from the shower cubicle which meant (forgive me for being graphic!) that you had to sit sideways to the left to be able to fit in your legs (there was a wall on the right). To add to the gymnastic routine , the toilet paper was located on the right hand side behind you.

On arrival , the toilet and shower were filthy-very off putting. They did clean it when we told this to owners.

Breakfast was very basic and was served outside on the verranda. There was never any cuttlery or coffee cups on the table - the owners assumed that since there was a small kitchen in the suite-we were supposed to bring our own cuttlery and cups with us . There was never any regard to making sure that the coffee was hot. They put it on the table at some point (we were never sure of when and they never knocked to let us know it was there) and that was that. The service provided was very poor.

Although the internet description claims the b&b is close to St Peters and the Vatican, it takes at least 15 minutes by bus to get to the Vatican and then another 10 minutes into Rome's centre. We also found it a challenge if we wanted to stay in Rome's centre at night and take public transport back. The most direct bus service's stops at 10pm and if we wanted to come back that way we had to change lines twice and then do some wallking back. We ended up taking taxi's (clearly much more expensive) back to avoid the hassle.

We also arranged a transfer from the airport with the owners (given it was our first time in Rome) and discovered later that they actually asked a lot more than a taxi would take to the airport (the b&b is very close to the airport)!

The good sides to this place is that it is quiet and has a lovely garden and veranda. The aircon in the room also worked well.

Having stayed in many b&b's we have come to expect that the owners show more individual concern that the guest is comfortable and make sure that they are. There was no care whatsoever from the owners as to whether or not we were comfortable or enjoying our stay.

Overall, I would not recommend this b&b and am definitely not going back there.

My suggestion would be to take something closer to Rome's centre and be very very careful of the hotel/b&b's description of the accommodation and location.

Roma bed and breakfast was our first stop in Italy. From the owners' description on the internet, and their claiming to win the 1st place as the best B&B in ROME, we expected a beautiful modern villa, with fantastic breakfast and a LITTLE out of the way place...How wrong we were.

Our "suite" consisted of VERY OLD fashioned rooms, with lots of years of service of the mattresses... every morning it was getting up with back pains..
The toilet seat was cracked, and had its own "will" when one tried to sit on it, and it was S O filthy when we enter the bathroom the first time.
Breakfast was monotonic every day, the minimum that can be given as continental, with cold coffee, and we had the feeling that the owners didn't want us to meet the other guests,as our breakfast was given to us every day (without asking us-and even when it rained one morning) in the yard near our "suite".

The B&B was VERY far from Rome. We had to walk about 10 min to the bus stop (steep upwards on the way back),and it took us 15 more min.getting to the Vatican + another (at least) 15 min. to the tourist attractions.
We didn't look forward every day to come back in the evenings all this way...

We also felt ripped off by them, charging us E50 from the airport (and changing the price twice)- (it costs E42 by the airport Limosine service), as Aurelia- the suburb where this villa is, is only just about 10 min. from the airport. When we asked the driver about his services back to to airport , she said that we are right about the short distance, but that she has to give the owners part of the fee, as they give her a lot of business...

WE are NOT going back to this place, and recommand travelers to look real good into discriptions of the owners of unfamiliar out of the way accommodations.

Dear Myriam and Giancarlo,

Belatedly but enthusiastically, I'd like to thank you for your hospitality during our visit August 16-19. You provided us a perfect accommodation for us while visiting Rome--clean, comfortable, personable and pleasant, complete with a parking spot. I'll certainly refer you to any of my friends who might be visiting Rome, and who knows, we may be back again ourselves. I hope you are having a cooler weather by now--with some rain. Sincerely, Ayako Doi & Kim Willenson
