My fifteen year old daughter and I spent seven nights at the Grand Hotel de la Minerve during the last week of June 2005, the first leg of our annual 'Mother-Daughter' summer holiday. The hotel was lovely and the location superb. Our room was beautifully and tastefully decorated, though somewhat 'compact' in size, and very, very clean. The hotel staff was helpful, courteous, and accomodating. Although the weather in Rome was VERY hot, our room was refreshingly cool thanks to the hotel's wonderful air-conditioning system. The very best feature of this hotel, however, was its location. The Grand Hotel de la Minerrve is located on a tiny piazza immediately behind the Pantheon, It is within walking distance of the Piazza Navonna, Fountain of Trevi, the Vittorio Emmanuele Monument, Piazza di Spagna, the Spanish Steps. and the Via Condotti (for designer shopping). The Circus Maximus, Colosseum, Forum, and the the Via Veneto are also within strolling distance. Taxis are plentiful in the area and the hotel is located in a very safe, picturesque, and easily accessible area. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay at the Grand Hotel de la Minerve the next time my travels take me to Rome.

We picked the Hotel based on our travel agent and trip advisor. It was wonderful. It is kind of pricey with the exchange rate, but to roll out of the front door and see the back of the Pantheon cannot be beat. EVeryone was very helpful, especially the doorman, who spoke to my husband's aunt who lives in Rome for us since our Italian is poor. The rooms have got to be some of the biggest in Europe. I was really impressed. THe only downfall was that there was no breakfast included as in some of the reviews. That was ok in our book becuase there are plenty of coffee bars nearby where you can get some cappucino and a pastry.

At 300 gbp per night I was expecting something a bit more than I got. OK...we had a suite with a private patio (which had broken plastic furniture by the way). The room was...OK....I have stayed in a suite in Bangkok for 50gbp per night that was ten times better than this (yeah OK Bangkok is a lot cheaper than Rome but...the room was like being in a palace)

The concierge was surly and unhelpful...I just didn't feel comfortable...or at least not as comfortable as I should have felt for 350gbp per night...let's face it...I should have been treated like a freaking king for that!!
But never got a good morning from anybody. Getting a smile out of the staff was hard enough.

Didn't try the breakfast at 30 euros each sounded a bit too much - went to nearby square for fresh fruit brekkie every day.
Tried the restaurant one night - meal was FANTASTIC and the staff theremuch more amenable.

The hotel is well situated for anywhere...it must be the perfect location.

Would I go back there - not after way I was treated.

My husband, 17-year-old daughter, and I just returned from an 11-day tour of Italy with one of the major tour companies. Our group was originally scheduled to stay at the Crowne Plaza but was moved to this hotel because of overbooking. We couldn't have been more pleased. Like so many of the hotels in Italy, this one isn't that impressive on the outside, but, unlike many of the others, it is just gorgeous on the inside. The three of us were amazed to find ourselves in a large suite. We had two fullsize beds in our room and the couch in the outer room folded out to a very comfortable bed, allowing our daughter to have a room of her own. Both rooms had televisions (though I can't say much about Italian television choices). The bathroom was very large by European standards and, happily, the shower had a shower curtain. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated. The breakfast in the restaurant was good and included fresh fruit. The other big advantage of this hotel is the location. It is literally right next to the Pantheon and easily accessible to the major attractions in Rome. Restaurants (and gelatto places) are nearby. After starting our tour with two nights in this hotel, all the other hotels were a real comedown. I'd definitely recommend this one!

My Fiance and I stayed at the Minerva for 3 nights and thought it was the best location to see all of the sites of Rome by walking. We had a great suite on the 6th floor. The roof bar gave a great view of the Pantheon as well as many other sites , though a bit pricey for cocktails. I would highly recommend this hotel for people looking to be in the center of it all with great service as well.
