My partner and stayed here a few weeks ago and were terribly disappointed.
Our room was not ready upon arrival, despite requesting early (12 PM) check-in. If the reception staff had been friendly and apologetic, then we'd have shrugged our shoulders and felt alright about it. Instead, the receptionist was frosty and gave us the impression that we were not welcome. This attitude was to become a theme.
Our room was like a Travel Inn - cleanish (last person's pubic hair in bath) but functional. It was certainly not 5* by my previous 5* experiences. The loo leaked (it was fixed) and there was damp and peeling paper near the bathroom. My laundry was lost by housekeeping and the hotel did not feel any responsibility for this. A hotel employee mysteriously barged into the room, without so much as a knock at the door, and my boyfriend was naked in the hall at the time. We did get a complimentary bottle as an apology for this event.
It's not that this is the worst hotel you could book into, just terribly overpriced, below 5* and unwelcoming. Try the Regents Grand instead. p.s. the pillows are like rocks!
