“Location, location, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

We have stayed at the Minerve hotel several times now, primarily due to its amazing location and its fun rooftop bar. This stay we were given a really nice room with interior ,quiet , balcony (#449) , king bed, good size room and nice marble bath. Beautiful bedding and nice bathroom supplies. Sadly, the rooftop bar we anticipated was closed for a party so we chose to eat at their dining tables. Pricey meal, not as good a value as the bar, nor was food noticeably sophisticated compared to all the good local restaurants. Skip the meal and wait for the sunset rooftop bar experience. Staff was pleasant, rooms clean, hallway rugs need updating, but overall, the ability to walk to the Pantheon with cappucinos on the square, and on to Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, and all the alleyways to Forum or Piazza di Spagna make it a treat.

Room Tip: We liked room 449 with interior balcony, quiet and several windows.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoy our roof top bar, sometimes we have private parties on it but very seldom we close it totally for the other guest. It can happen two or three times a year. The prices at the bar and at the restaurant are different, due to several reasons, the menus are different and so is the service offered, a bit less formal at the bar than at the restaurant . But the food is prepared by the same staff so the quality is the same and so is the passion in cooking it. The “not too sophisticated” is a precise choice of our Chef , to let the natural flavours of high quality material come out of skilfully prepared plates.
Again thank you for letting us know your impression , we hope that you will have the opportunity to come back to us
Best regards

This would have to be the best hotel we have stayed in while travelling anywhere in Europe. Not only is it central (backs onto the Pantheon) but the interior decore and charm of this beautiful hotel are just outstanding. The room we had was magic. The desk staff, hotel staff and hosuekeeping staff were all polite and any problems we had (albeit not worth writing about) were resolved immediately. Our biggest disappointment was probably our last night there when we booked for dinner at their rooftop bar and restaurant. The food and drinks were great but the ambience was a bit hit and miss. The piano player was intermittent with the music but not an issue. Our main disappointment was with one of the waitresses. She was just rude. ignorant and had attitude like she did not want to be there. But that is a minor issue to whole experienc of staying in this grand hotel. If we are back in Rome this is the place we will be staying at again.

Room Tip: Book a Junior Suite. They come with an outdoor patio area and outdoor furniture. great in the aftern...

Dear guest,
Thank you for your feedback and positive review,
The restaurant manager has been informed about the misshap with the waitress, be assured that the necessary steps to avoid this in the future will be taken. We will be more than glad to have you as our most welcome guest when you will be back in Rome.
Regards

This hotel was not cheap, but it was well worth the approx $250+ we paid for each night. The location is perfect -- walkable to the coliseum, trevi fountain, spanish steps and piazza navona. If it wasn't so hot, we could have also walked to the Vatican. Our room was very large and comfortable -- our friends staying at different hotels couldnt' get over the size. The staff was very accommodating -- offering suggestions for meals and helping us book restaurant and train reservations. Would definitely stay here again. Be sure to go up to the roof one night for drinks -- we enjoyed a great sunset, amazing view and live music

Room Tip: ask for a room that looks out onto the Pantheon

We we in Rome October 3rd thru the 8th for our honeymoon.. Everyone that worked at the hotel
was extremely nice and helpful. They allowed us to check in 5 hours before normal check in.
The location was perfect for our trip. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was included, otherwise would have been overpriced. Again, the level of customer service was excellent and when we go back to Rome we will certainly stay there again

Myself & my daughter stayed in the hotel for 3 nights we had requested a deluxe twin bedded room,on arrival the room was set up with a double bed and not twin beds as requested. This in itself was a small issue, but the lack of printed information material in the room was really disappointing and when we requested same we had to go to the concierge to collect tour information that he had underneath his desk - in a 5 star hotel this information should be located in each room or at least on show in the lobby area surely - we also asked him to recommend some good restraurants in the area which he declined to do. First impressions are so important but for the above reasons this hotel failed to impress -

STRUCTURE: in the city center with no landscape, indifferent to the palace without any particular value
LOBBYING: dark, foul smell at the entrance, no help with your luggage, annoying staff at the reception, a lift for up to two people without luggage, hospital-style corridors sad, entrance doors to rooms-style cruise ship, abandoned trolleys in corridors.
ROOMS: cigarette smell in the room, on the couch and bed sheets, dust on the bedside tables, three star hotel furniture, bathroom not working
RESTAURANT: not tried
PERSONAL: annoying, not to meet any customer demand, sometimes rude and definitely not professional
What I disliked: atmosphere, decor, staff
OVERALL: I left the hotel after an hour as unhappy paying the entire night.

Stayed at this hotel 1 night post-cruise. It was a fantastic location and a beatiful hotel. Great location near Pantheon with walking distance to sites, restaurants, etc. Excellent staff. The room was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was a little odd in terms of shape & space and could use some updates, but excellent shower, etc. Bed was comfy with nice bedding & pillows. Do not miss the rooftop bar. Nice views, accomodating bartender.
Was no problem to grab a cab in the a.m. to get to the airport without pre-planning.
