We stayed four nights at the Hotel Ponte Sisto at the start of a two-week Italian vacation. From the minute we arrived at the hotel we were treated excellently (and I strongly recommend taking advantage of the 55 euro car service from the airport to the hotel--even if we had to wait a few minutes to find the driver). The room, while small (in Italy they're always small), was ready when we checked in at 10 am, and it was clean, quiet (even in the back, over the kitchen), and made up even before we got back from the excellent unlimited buffet breakfast (eggs, meat, cheese, breads, the works). The marble bathroom was also large. The staff is uniformly terrific; someone at the front desk even helped set up our rented cell phone.

It's true that there were only 2 channels of English TV, but that's really all you need. I don't know about wifi or other computer hookups, but it seems like there was free ADSL. Also, the location was fine but could have been more central, or closer to the subway; buses run nearby but they were always packed. Campo di Fiore is close, but really more of a party-scene place. On Saturday night the streets around the hotel had broken beer bottles everywhere. (Ignore the graffiti on the walls outside--it's everywhere in Italy.) It's a 25-minute walk to the Spanish Steps, 15 minutes to ancient Rome, 10 minutes to Piazza Navona; walkable, but make sure to have sturdy shoes. That said, we couldn't find any hotel closer to central Rome with the reviews this one got, even at 230 euro a night, and all the good reviews were true. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Rome.

This was a perfect hotel in many ways. Yes, small rooms, but very well appointed. Great breakfast that is rarely offered in Europe. They had no problem with a 10 am check-in. A lovely courtyard to relax. LOCATION! You cannot find a quieter hotel so close to the Campo, Trevi and Navonna. Rooms are expensive in Rome, and this one wasn't a fabulous value, but you will not find a better spot. Free wi-fi here will save a few euro and the good news is food and wine are relatively cheap in Rome, so that said, it all works out. I highly recommend this hotel.

Great location, but overpriced, tiny luxe rooms--not great value.

Hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a trip to Amalfi Coast and Capri.
LOCATION. The location is absolutely unbeatable--10 min walk to Pantheon, 5 mins to Piazza Navona or Campo dei Fiori or Trastevere, 15 mins walk to Forum/Colosseum. Supermarket right next door for snacks, wine, cold water, and goodies to take home! It IS a lovely oasis--cool and quiet, with an attractive courtyard.
ROOM. But for E240 a night, the most expensive place we stayed in by almost 100 Euros, we were disappointed in our room. Everything was luxurious, but the room was so tiny there was barely enough room to walk around the bed without turning sideways (we're average sized people, BTW). The bathroom was all marble and very luxe, but I literally (though we decided not to take a photo of this) sat on the toilet with one foot well into the shower, the other foot on the sink, and my knee in the bidet. Seriously.
When we checked in, the attendant said he was giving us a room with a lovely courtyard view. We had a balcony, but it was the roof of the building below, separated with iron railing between four rooms--and one of the balconies ran the length of the others, blocking the other three rooms from having a view of anything other than some attractive rooftops and windows. And water poured down from the rooftop onto the balcony next to ours--though there was no rain--kinda wierd. Also, starting at 7 am on Sunday morning, the maid was vacuuming the hallway and moving furniture overhead loudly enough to wake up my hubby, who sleeps like the dead. He even called to complain.
VALUE. Our traveling companions stayed near the train station at a hotel E100 cheaper that wasn't as luxurious, and not the same location, but the room was comfortable and sounded about the same size as ours. It's up to you as to how important location is: if I could find a lesser priced hotel in this same area, I'd stay there in a heartbeat. We only had one full day in Rome, and wanted to maximize our time by staying in a central location.
FOOD. The breakfast was enormous--yogurt, eggs, sausage, fruit, cappuccino/espresso to order, etc, etc. Very nice quality. Ate at L'Insalata Ricca (a Roman chain)--great selection and really good food--and super cheap! Also ate at Sacro e Profano, in a converted church near Trevi Fountain--excellent. And I highly recommend the olives at the supermarket next door.

Our family of four stayed here during May and loved the Hotel. It is in the perfect location which offers about a 25 minute walk to St. Peters and within walking distance to the Coleseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps etc. The two rooms that we had were excellent and always immaculate and comfortable. The buffet breakfast in the courtyard was perfect and offered hot dishes as well as the traditional European fare. The staff accomodated our every wish and even stored our four large suitcases on our departure day. Everything was 5 star and I would wholly recommend this hotel for your trip to Rome. The only drawback would be that the streets surrounding the hotel are lined with garbage and grafitti as most are in Rome although once you enter the Hotel you are in an Oasis.

The location is a 2 minute walk from the collegey Trastevere area & about a 15 minute walk from the Vatican. We walked everywhere in Rome from the hotel & were always happy to come back to relax. The rooms were small but clean, with beautiful bathrooms. No pay per view movies to order on the TV, though, so if you only speak English you're out of luck except for CNN news, BBC news & Sky News. There's a very nice bar off the lobby & a really lovely courtyard that you can sit in & just relax. The hotel is on a little side street that doesn't look like much, but when you get into the lobby, it's very pretty. The breakfast was a large buffet - very nice! The staff was helpful. When you get tired of the excellent Italian food that's all around you, try the Indian restaurant that's 1 block away - it was simple but delicious.
