We stayed four nights at the Hotel Ponte Sisto at the start of a two-week Italian vacation. From the minute we arrived at the hotel we were treated excellently (and I strongly recommend taking advantage of the 55 euro car service from the airport to the hotel--even if we had to wait a few minutes to find the driver). The room, while small (in Italy they're always small), was ready when we checked in at 10 am, and it was clean, quiet (even in the back, over the kitchen), and made up even before we got back from the excellent unlimited buffet breakfast (eggs, meat, cheese, breads, the works). The marble bathroom was also large. The staff is uniformly terrific; someone at the front desk even helped set up our rented cell phone.
It's true that there were only 2 channels of English TV, but that's really all you need. I don't know about wifi or other computer hookups, but it seems like there was free ADSL. Also, the location was fine but could have been more central, or closer to the subway; buses run nearby but they were always packed. Campo di Fiore is close, but really more of a party-scene place. On Saturday night the streets around the hotel had broken beer bottles everywhere. (Ignore the graffiti on the walls outside--it's everywhere in Italy.) It's a 25-minute walk to the Spanish Steps, 15 minutes to ancient Rome, 10 minutes to Piazza Navona; walkable, but make sure to have sturdy shoes. That said, we couldn't find any hotel closer to central Rome with the reviews this one got, even at 230 euro a night, and all the good reviews were true. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Rome.
