My wife, daughter and I have just recently come back from this Hotel (booked via Venere) and pleased to report that we were very happy with all apsects of this hotel and service.
As we landed at 10am at Ciampino airport and figured that we couldn't check into the hotel until 2pm, we decided to have a bash at taking public transport with our suitcases and hand luggage. We bought our tickets for 7 Euros in total for all three of us which was cheap considering it would have cost us 45 Euros by taxi. Anyway, it was an experience! Lol! We struggled to get on the busses because it was a free for all and we were just didn't feel right pushing our way on. It took us three attempts before elbows came into play and we successfully managed to get onto the third bus that came along (and there was a wait of 40mins between each bus). We managed to find our way to the hotel four hours later, through the pouring rain and after doing plenty of running around. It was a good way of engaging with the locals and I'm glad that we did this. Most people we asked for help from didn't speak any English but they tried to assist nevertheless. I was pleased with the locals. The authorities are a different breed, they spoke English but couldn't be bothered to help.
The Hotel staff speak very good English so we didn't have any language issues and found them to be very friendly. I thought staff member Omar was the most helpful and friendliest. Our room and bathroom were clean and well made up. Air con didn't work so well but I didn't make an issue about it.
This was a surprise trip for my wife's 40th Birthday and I was pleased that the staff had remembered this from a note I had sent them in advance and they brought up a complimentary bowl of fruit with a note wishing her a happy birthday. This was a nice touch and I had completely forgotten that I had mentioned this in my booking. I just wanted them to wish her a happy birthday so the bowl of fruit was a nice touch.
The hotel is in a bit of a grotty location and as somebody else has mentioned it can look a bit miserable after dark when all shutters are down. We didn't feel intimidated or threatened in any way, so don't be put off.
Nice Chinese restaurant around the corner with good reasonably priced menu and very friendly service.
An Irish bar across the road but I only popped in there for a quick drink. Seemed okay.
The Hotel is 500m from nearest metro station (Bologna) which is a bit of a walk up a hill. I'm very unfit but it did me some good.
Free safe in room is a plus. We got quite excited about the sky tv only to find out that there was only one English channel. We missed out on the X-factor final this year as a result (We are sad...I know!). The mini bar was reasonably priced and not a complete rip-off.
Overall, we were happy with our stay and would definitely recommend it.
