Just back from 4 nights at hotel Fiume. Hotel has just been renovated, they were just adding some finishing touches as we arrived.
Location- nice quiet street, didnt find it particularly noisey, about 15min walk to spanish steps, and pantheon. We used metro once to get back from Vatican city.
Hotel- brilliant breakfast, nice choice of breads, cold meats, fresh orange juicer, cereal, etc...all fresh and well replenished.
staff - very helpful, organised taxi for us, assisted with recommeding restaurants etc.

There are lots of trattorias near hotel which are all well priced and good food, there is a deli accross the road from hotel and small supermarket around the corner which we used to stock up on snacks for our room (there is a mini bar in rooms).

All in all i would recommend this small hotel to anyone! it was such a relief to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas in the evening, and made dinning at night a lot cheaper!!

hope to go back some day to Rome

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The place is undergoing refurbishment - our room was lush! - in fact I think we may have been the first to use it. There was a little noise from around 8am due to the works being carried out but we were up for breakfast by then anyway - just don't expect to a long lie in whilst they are renovating! There's a few nice restaurants nearby and a cosy bar on the ground floor, or if you fancy going into the city centre for dinner there a few buses which run regularly from he Piazza around the corner. Staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good too. This place comes highly recommended - very reasonably priced and tucked away from the busy tourist hotspots. It's well placed for the rail station too - approx. 10mins by bus.

We stayed at this 3 star hotel for 2 nights.
The hotel is east of Villa Borghese area above the Corse De Italia. It is a bit off the center of town, but close enough to walk to the major train and bus terminal. This location made for a quiet location, yet close enough to many tratorias and small bistros.
The Hotel had a very nice foyer, bar area and small lounge, no one was ever in these areas, but not because they were not inviting. A 1/2 flight up was an internet lounge with 6 or so computers for your use, again there was almost never anyone there. This area also had a tv and reading area. Another 1/2 flight up was the breakfast room.

The breakfast was decent, nothing to rave about, but there was fresh coffee, capachino, tea, juices, etc. Plenty of bread and pastry as well as cerials, cold cuts, yogurts, fruits, crackers, snacks etc, as well as cold cuts ? I guess that's an italian thing.

The rooms and other public spaces were all updated and very modern, The rooms were very good size, in comparison with other big cities, like New York and Paris. The bath was also a good size with a deep soaking tub.

This was a very good choice as it was reasonable in cost, very clean, and a good location.

The staff were helpfull and everyone was fluent in English.

I would recommend this hotel

We arrived to the hotel about 21.30 and we were given a room that was still under renovation (I was aware that there was renovation going on when I booked). There was dust almost everywhere, it smelled like they had just clued the wallpapers on the walls. We were very tired, so we went to bed and tried to ignore that. When we woke up we found, that shower wasn't working properly! In Finland hotels would never give room like that to guests!
So we went to the reception and we wanted to change our room. Receptionist was very nice and polite and he started this room changing prosess right away (overall the staff was very helpful and nice). We were lucky and there was empty room for us. So we went to see all the historical monuments and when we got back to hotel, our luggages were moved to our new room as promised.
New room was nice, quite big and quiet (just little noise from outside). There was big double bed, flat-tv and good size shower/toilet (shower worked just fine). Room was just renovated, so everything was new.

Breakfast was OK but not as good as I thought after I read description of this hotel on the internet. E.g. bacon and eggs (cooked and scrampled) were missing and there wasn't any fresh vegetables or fruits, which includes every hotels breakfast here in Finland.

Hotels location is good as the Castro Pretorio metrostation is quite near (5-10 min. walking) and Piazza Fiume (bus stops) is almost around the corner. We mainly walked around the city and we think hotel is near enough for all the attractions.
There were couple of good trattorias/pizzerias nearby and prices were reasonable (e.g. pizza 7-8 euros, pasta 7-8 euros, 1 litre of house wine 6-7 euros, desserts 4-5 euros, large beer 3-4 euros). We loved restaurant/pizzeria Bella Napolis pizzas! (on Via Alessandria, about 200 m from the hotel).

We think this hotel is OK (we would definetily come back after renovation) and price was very reasonable (4 nights 328 euros).

I think many people do not give this hotel enough credit! After reading multiple reviews, my boyfriend and I weren't sure what to expect! We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a 3 star hotel and it isn't the fanciest thing in the world, but our room was more than adequate! The bathroom was EXCELLENT with a nice BIG tub to take baths in after walking Rome and sweating so much! The breakfast was GREAT and they had a lot of options to choose from daily! Overall, a great stay and I would recomment this hotel to anybody! I would say the only downfall is that it is a little bit outside of the city... But to be honest, there were times where that WAS appreciated seeing as Rome is a busy enough city in itself! You can walk to the Metro station or just walk to the city center, we didn't hesitate to do so! Hope you enjoy it!
