We arrived to the hotel about 21.30 and we were given a room that was still under renovation (I was aware that there was renovation going on when I booked). There was dust almost everywhere, it smelled like they had just clued the wallpapers on the walls. We were very tired, so we went to bed and tried to ignore that. When we woke up we found, that shower wasn't working properly! In Finland hotels would never give room like that to guests!
So we went to the reception and we wanted to change our room. Receptionist was very nice and polite and he started this room changing prosess right away (overall the staff was very helpful and nice). We were lucky and there was empty room for us. So we went to see all the historical monuments and when we got back to hotel, our luggages were moved to our new room as promised.
New room was nice, quite big and quiet (just little noise from outside). There was big double bed, flat-tv and good size shower/toilet (shower worked just fine). Room was just renovated, so everything was new.
Breakfast was OK but not as good as I thought after I read description of this hotel on the internet. E.g. bacon and eggs (cooked and scrampled) were missing and there wasn't any fresh vegetables or fruits, which includes every hotels breakfast here in Finland.
Hotels location is good as the Castro Pretorio metrostation is quite near (5-10 min. walking) and Piazza Fiume (bus stops) is almost around the corner. We mainly walked around the city and we think hotel is near enough for all the attractions.
There were couple of good trattorias/pizzerias nearby and prices were reasonable (e.g. pizza 7-8 euros, pasta 7-8 euros, 1 litre of house wine 6-7 euros, desserts 4-5 euros, large beer 3-4 euros). We loved restaurant/pizzeria Bella Napolis pizzas! (on Via Alessandria, about 200 m from the hotel).
We think this hotel is OK (we would definetily come back after renovation) and price was very reasonable (4 nights 328 euros).
