We have just returned from two centre break with Archers Direct in which Hotel Fiume was our Rome base. Although not centrally located( this meant it was quiet) it is however very well connected.The rooms were clean and spacious and air conditioned. The breakfast was to be recommended- plentiful with lots of variety. The yoghurt machine was so cute. There were at least three restaurants within walking distance Checco E Lina was very good , the food was delicious and homecooked. We walked a couple of blocks to pick up the Rome circular opened topped bus and got off at different stops to sight see. Taxis were reliable and reasonable ate in the Trastevere and only about 12 Euros to get back. For shoppers, the department store Rinascentre is a stone throw away and had a sale on whilst we were there. The coffee shop on the top floor was great and afforded good views of that part of the city. The hotel is very close to The Villa Borghese which is great to allow kids to run around although you could hire bikes as well. A good base to sight see with out costing the earth. We also took a trip to Tivioli with Vastours a beautiful medieval town; tour included visited Hadrian's Villa and the amazing fountain gardens of Villa D'este- a photographers delight.

We stayed at Fiume Hotel Rome for 5 days in July ‘08.
The age in our group varied from 28 to 60 years, and we all feel that this hotel turned out to be a great finding for the price we had paid.

A list of things we liked;
* The breakfast buffet gave us a great start at the day
* Great service by the hotel staff
* Numerous great Italian restaurants in the neighbourhood
* Max 5 minutes walk to the bus stop
* Relatively quiet neighbourhood
* Air conditioned rooms

Cons;
None really...(and if you feel that the distance to different sites is to far away, a ride with the bus to anywhere in the city cost you a whole 1 Euro) :-)

  • Liked — Te location. The staff. The breakfast buffet.

I can't say much except that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this fine hotel. Decent spacious rooms, reasonably priced for Rome, friendly staff, and a great free breakfast. I liked the location - a nice quiet part of the city fairly close to the metro; however if you are looking for somewhere closer to the tourist attractions this may not be the hotel for you. And bear in mind that Rome does not have a very extensive metro service. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Spacious Rooms
  • Disliked — The location - though quite good all the same

stayed in Hotel Fiume in June 2008, I would say it was very clean except we did have a family of ants in the bathroom that only seemed to come out on a night for a short while. Also the tea/coffee making machine for breakfast is not very kind to the tastebuds!!. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, they are extremely friendly and always available for advice on getting around rome, they also give you free maps which are very detailed, so its not hard finding the attractions. The bus stops are around the corner, bus 62 is great for visting the Vatican and going to the Trevi Fountain etc. The Metro is a short walk maybe 10mins, this is great for visting the Colosseum. The open top bus is a must, go for the 110 which comes every 5 mins! There are resturants next to the hotel, we went twice to one ran by two brothers, it was on the expensive side but the food was worth the price and we did not spend much money during the day as the attractions where supprisenly cheap, maybe around or less than 15 euros each. There are tours which will allow you to skip the line however we chose to hire the audotapes (but you must bring a passport for a deposit) as they are cheap and you can take your time. One warning though watch out for pickpockets, expecally on the buses and metros as they are very crowded.
Overall the hotel is ok for somewhere to sleep whilst in rome, just like any 3 star hotel i have stayed in.

I recently stayed for 4 nights at this hotel with my uni friend Sam. We were quite concious of what the hotel would be like due to having stayed in some noisy and pokey places previously! On arrival we were overwhelmed by the size of our room- it was massive. It was nicely furnished and the beds were comfy-ensuring a great nights sleep (it was also nice and quiet).

The hotel is located near a wide range of traditional restaurants so eating out was a pleasure. The breakfast range was continental and was the same every day but you can eat as much as you like.

The staff were generally nice and accomidating to our needs. We would not hesitate to stay in the hotel again, as the main metro station was within walking distance so exploring Rome was easy and cheap!

  • Liked — Good base for exploring the city and spacious rooms
  • Disliked — Repetitive breakfast and late check in time
