The best thing about this hotel is it's location which is wonderful. Rome is easy to tour on foot and even easier if with the Cosmopolita as a base since you can pop back to use the bathroom or put your feet up between sights. There are numerous restuarants within a few minute's walk and all the major sights are on the doorstep. The furthest we went was the Vatican which was a 30 min walk straight down Corso Vittorio Emanuel II and the Villa Borghese whihc is again about 30 mins down Via del Corso.

Rooms are basic but clean and comfy if a little hot. We had a twin room which would be small by American standards but perectly fine for Europeans. It is certainly not a luxury hotel but has all you need for a good base to stay. The bathroom had a good shower and a hairdryer. The mini bar was well stocked but had space for you to put your own drinks in if needed. The windows are double or triple glazed and shut out street noise very well.

Breakfast was very good with something for most people - fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, yoghurts, cereal, breads, cheese and ham as well as a good reange of hot drinks. Despite being busy nothing ran out as the buffet was frequently replenished.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and speak excellent English and French but are also happy to chat in Italian if you want to practice! They are also happy to give recommendations for restaurants etc, give directions and look after your luggage after checking out.

Hotels in Rome are difficult. It's such a fantastic city and often the buildings do not lend themselves to being hotels. Rooms are squeezed here and there.

This hotel is ok, but a little soul-less. The room I had was adequate. Big bed, clean if fairly small bathroom, confusing air-conditioning. I am increasingly annoyed by astronomical internet charges, especially when the website suggests there might be free wifi in the public areas (there isn't).

The good things about the hotel are its location (close to the Gregorian University, the 'Wedding cake' and Trevi fountain - and on a good bus link). It has a good bar, and the buffet breakfast was nice. The rooftop terrace (if you manage to find it!) is also a very nice place to sit with a book. Pity they don't serve drinks up there or at least have a room service type arrangement up there.

But part of me thinks there are other hotels which would be nicer for the price.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of our 12 day honeymoon. Location was fabulous - easy walking distance to all of the major sites, good food and several ATM choices are nearby; bus stop is just around the corner; it is also less than 10 minutes from the train station which equals a cheap (about 10 euro) taxi ride (for those leaving for FCO from the hotel it is about a 30 min taxi ride). It was a fabulous value for us but I think we may have booked when they had special rates... we stayed in the Double Superior room - it was small but very clean with high ceilings and hardwood floors. The bed was reasonably comfortable but the pillows were horrible - very hard and overstuffed. The bathroom was clean but very, very small and it had the tiniest shower I have ever experienced in my life - great water pressure though. The room had a strange step down into the room and then you had to step up into the bathroom; the walls were very thin as well (we could hear people arguing on the other side of us) - I brought a fan for background noise, so my husband and I slept fine, but it would have been hard to sleep if I hadn't... Breakfast was very good (though the only thing "American" about it was the scrambled eggs) - it had a nice selection of pastries and meats and good coffee. The hallway and the elevator had a very bad smell the whole time we were there, but otherwise the hotel was clean and nice looking - nothing especially interesting but more than adequate since we didn't want to spend much time in the hotel anyway. The rooftop bar/restaurant is really more of a patio - you cannot order anything up there, but you can bring your own drinks or food up and sit and enjoy the view. Staff was polite but often looked annoyed when we had questions and many of them did not speak English as well as we had hoped - we had one guy that we always looked for when we walked by and only asked him questions after trying to speak with two others that were hard to communicate with... overall it was an average hotel that met our basic needs but nothing special - I would still recommend this hotel based on the location though - it was easy to go back to the hotel to rest for a little while between sights (which was important near the end of a 12 day trip).

This is truly the first time I've ever written a review of a hotel, but I wanted to share my experience I had with the Hotel Cosmopolita. As most know, finding a decent hotel in Rome is hit or miss. I relied on others' reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor and they were right! This is a great hotel!! Phenomenal location, you can walk to everything. Very clean rooms and good size. My 2 kids and I shared a triple, and my parents stayed in a double. Our room faced the street, but you'd never know it! The breakfast was pretty good and a cost savings if anything else.

When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly front desk staff that was very helpful in navigating us around the hotel, took care of our luggage, gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants and they helped us phone our tour guides to confirm our tours.

Only 2 negatives--at times in the hallway by the elevator and then again in our bathroom we could smell the sewer gas--smelly but tolerable. Second--there are 2 front desk guys that are a bit ornery--not as people-friendly. Otherwise everything else was great! I very much recommend this hotel!

Great location midway between Trevi and Colosseo. Breakfasts were delicious and Max, at the front desk, was very helpful (some of the other front desk staff, however, were a little stuffy). Max's recommendation to eat at nearby Ristorante Santa Cristina was spot on ... a delightful, small place with great food.
Only negative was noisy Nags Head Scottish pub across the street on Via 4 Novembre. Would definitely ask for a room facing quieter Via di Santa Eufemia next time.
