The double room we got was very spacious and had a fan and a sink. Everything was clean and the cafe is wonderful (all vegetarian, there are suggested prices but you pay whatever you feel your meal was worth!) You can't check in before the rooms have been cleaned but you can leave your luggage and go out wandering. They give out free maps of Rome and the reception is covered 24 hours by one of the friendly, English-speaking staff members.
Very close to the train station but in a fairly quiet area, we felt perfectly safe.
I was very sick at night and the staff on reception helped us find a pharmacy and brought water to the room, you're in good hands here!
The luggage room is quite small but so long as they can fit it, you can leave your luggage there for free when you check out and pick it up later that day.
There is a cat that lives in the hostel so if you're allergic, don't stay there!
