We were on a stag doo so you can imagine the level of tom foolery this place deals with on a regular basis, but there was absolutely no problems at all. The rooms were basic but clean. Only small problem was the air conditioning didn't come on till 11 at night so if you were in the room during the day it was extremely warm and clammy.
The hotel bar is one of the more lively places in Rome and had the cheapest drinks we could find. At one point we were almost naming our prices to the bar tender.
I would highly recommend this place for travelers and weekenders alike.

We stayed in a 8 person dorm...

The location is good, although could be conceived as seedy after night fall... 5min to Termni station and walkable distance to most attractions, although still a fair hike!

The bar was good fun and good value for drinks, although there wasn't much around the area to do once the bar closed, was a long way to the nightclub/bar area of town.

The bathroom was a good size and clean enough.

Did have some trouble with a few different drunken room-mates (BOTH NIGHTS DIFFERENT PEOPLE), but hey, in a 8 person dorm what do you expect.

All in all, not bad, but if you're after a party place, probably try something closer to the night scene.

I spent 4 nights here in February 2008. The hostel has a good location 5-10 mins walk from Termini which is really convienient for arriving/departing and also if you want to use the Metro for getting around. The room (I was in 11, a 6bed ensuite dorm) was fairly small but it was clean as was the bathroom. The only thing was that it was next to the stairs and it did get a little noisy when people were coming back late at night but it wouldnt stop me staying here again.

The hostels best facility is the bar which at the time I was there had a happy hour with free Sangria. To pay for drinks you must get tokens from the machine, most things seemed to be about 3 tokens (€3). Reception was helpful and there were several computers which you could pay for internet access.

There are several restaurants in the immediate area - my favourite was Bistro Angela just round the corner. I travelled on my own and had read several things about Termini area that made me a little nervous but I certainly had no problems walking to & from the train station even later at night.

Overall a good, clean hostel and its great for meeting others

  • Liked — The location & the fact it had a bar
  • Disliked — It was a little noisy at night - but my earplugs did the trick!

Do not stay here. We booked this hostel well in advance - a private room. When we got there and after overcharging us for our room, the staff gives us the key and we go to our room. It turns out it is a room with four other guys in bunk beds with a double bed in the middle for my wife and I.

After explaining to the desk staff that there must have been a mistake, their first response was "bummer dude" and then they tell us that they double booked our private room. They say that they are completely full and that the shared room is the only one we can stay in. So at midnight, my wife and I are wandering the streets of Rome near the train station (not the greatest area) looking for other lodging.

Althought the staff offered us a free night stay the next night (likely in a shared room based on their track record), the experience was terrible. They told us that the double booking happens a few times per year, so BEWARE!

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Alessandro Palace and it was brilliant!

The rooms were lovely - all with air con which in 40 degree heat was great! The staff were all really friendly and helpful and upon our arrival gave us a map and great directions. Beware the air con though - about 4.30am each morning it had got so cold we ended up in fleeces and its automatic so we couldnt turn it off!! It made for a better experience though!! The rooms were big and so was the bathroom - ours had a hairdryer in it too.

The hostel is walking distance from all the sights bar the Vatican, but is 5 mins walk from Termini and the Metro. It was quiet around the hotel but with a lively and social bar (which we couldnt hear from our room). The free pizza party was also well worth it!! ;-) Everyone was friendly and sociable and overall would definitely recommend it and stay again.

Also, we went on the Colosseum tour which we booked outside the Colosseum 30 seconds before it started and would really recommend you use the tours - they were brilliant. We then got shown round Palentine Hill by an Ozzie called Hannah Schneider - she was so interesting and enthusiastic we also went on the night tour and the Vatican tour with her aswell - so try and get on her tours!! you find out so much stuff you would never know otherwise!!

  • Liked — The location and the size of the rooms
  • Disliked — The 3 flights up to the room!!
