I'm not sure where these pictures came from, but it couldn't have been Hotel Magic. First impression was negative--had to walk through areas where we didn't feel safe, seeing garbage stuffed into window grilles along the sidewalk. It was near the train station, which could be both good and bad. Good because you can walk from the train--bad because it's generally not the nicest part of town. This place was on the third floor (our fourth) with a very narrow, spiral staircase leading to it. Very tough to maneuver bags up and down (and I'm not a large person). The lift did not work. Staff wasn't particularly friendly and spoke VERY limited English. The room was not clean. I have used better towels to wash my car. The plastic cups in the bathroom had dried toothpaste on them. According to the website, we expected "a very good breakfast at their breakfast bar" -- not the case. You had to track someone down and get a handwritten slip and then walk about three blocks to a diner where you received one croissant and a small coffee. If you wanted anything above that, you had to pay more. We were also informed that we had to pay our final bill in cash--they didn't accept credit cards, very different from what the website states. If I could do it over again, I definitely would have stayed somewhere else. Buyer, beware.

This hotel was the worst that I ever stayed at. The owner was rude and gave people a curfew of when they had to be back in the hotel. The private bathroom she adversites is actually down the hall and other people use it. She was not helpful in any matter and we ended up leaving a day early because of the service and the rooms. The beutiful rooms they have on the website are not anything that they actully have. I would never recommed this hotel to anyone that I know.

The "Hotel" is located close to the train station, grocery shop, Laundromat/internet access, cheaper restaurants.

The "Hotel" is on the 3rd floor and there are 2 other hotels in the same building, 1st and 2nd floor. The lift can accommodate 3 people without luggage or 2 with 1 luggage + 1 hand carry.

The "Hotel" is more like a old apartment rather than a hotel (haven’t stayed in a 1 or 2 star hotel before, so maybe that is what it should look like). The centre of the building it has a square shape hole. There is a restaurant at the bottom. At night you can smell the cooking and cooking noise if you leave the windows open. Luckily in the month on June is quite cool the window was closed.

Their web site is nicely created but the actual differs to it. The bathroom/toilet looks like an old apartment bathroom. They won’t accept credit card. No wake up call. Breakfast is located in a shop on the next block serving only 1 drink and 1 bread roll eg. croissant. I am not sure where they get their pictures of the bathrooms maybe we got the worse old type bathroom which has some mold and rusty hanger. The extra bed sags in the middle. Not sure if they charge extra for aircond as the remote was removed. Was very disappointed with the web site advertisement and the actual experience. The owner lives in an apartment on the same floor.

On the day we had to check out the lift was not working so I have to carry all our bags down the windy steps :(

We took a 2 week vacation this summer to Venice, Florence, with our final destination in Rome. Since we were traveling by train it was convienent to have our hotels located near the train stations. We chose Hotel Magic as our Rome hotel based on a recommendation from Rick Steve's Italy Travel Guide. We found the accomendations very shabby as compared to other hotels we stayed in. However, the beds were adequate and the rooms were clean. The hotel is located a block from the train station and the two main metro lines making all of Rome easily accesable. There was a lot of street noise late into the night and air conditioning was not turned on in June. The staff was not very friendly initially and their English skills were minimal. However, they improved on discovering that we were paying cash. Also, the rooms are located on the fifth floor and the elevator was not functioning. Unless you're on a tight budget and traveling by train, I would try a different hotel.

Hi all!Just got back from a weeken in rome (september 2003). Spent 3 nights in hotel magic. a few notes: 1) the hotel is on the 3rd floor. a lot of stairs to go, after a long day of sightseeing. 2) the area is quite noisy. street cleaner trucks, garbage collectors, etc. are quite probable to make their existance present during the night and early morning hours. closing the window usually helps to a certain extent, BUT, might be a problem if it's very hot. 3) Please note that the hotel charges additional 5 to 10 euros extra for night, if you use the air-con. we didn't use it, as september finds rome at a great weather. 4) The Termini area is safe, yet, doesn't provide many nice places to go out to. so, if you're interested in going to nice tourist restaurants, you'll have to use the public transport, which is not very efficient in rome. walking to piazza navon takes something like 45 mins, and envolves up hills. 5) the hotel owners speak very basic english, and are not very nice, BUT, they do their job.Hope you enjoy your trip in rome! Mr Cohen, Tel-Aviv, Israel.
